Is the Chicago DVD out yet in the US? Amazon lists the 'widescreen version' (i never heard of 2 versions b4) as august 18- but sometimes they get it wrong.

It's out in the UK on the 4th of August- which is odd cos Lord of The Rings 2 isn't out on dvd yet- and it was in UK cinemas long b4 chicago.
Also- I'm wondering if tv adverts for movie release just don't bother to acknowledge that films are also available on vhs- or is the video not coming out till a later date- this has happened a few times
So I hope to buy the dvd once it's out to see the deleted scenes

Has anyone at all actually seen the deleted scene 'Class' in any form? Also is it a 2 disc release in the US? I think it's only single disc in the UK- and some of the UK dvd's have less special features (especially for the film 'Waking Life'- the UK version had no features, the US had commentary and making of featurettes).

Can't wait either

A good site to find when a movie is going to rental is www.videoeta.com

Well, I just finished watching the Chicago DVD. NBC, when buying the rights to Chicago- said there'd be 15 minutes extra footage, well they must be wrong- or the producers of the film are holding back some more footage to release a special edition set later in the year- because the only extra footage was the song 'Class'.
Someone worried a while ago that 'Class' is edited into the film- well it's not, it's a separate feature. I can fully understand why it isn't in the film. Class- is a fantastic song, but it's all wrong- not just the 'movie in roxies mind' thing- but it seems when Velma and Mama Morton sing it they have a little backstage private joke going on- like when the cats of 'Bring it On' sing 'Hey Mickey' at the end of the film. The musical number starts after Velma tries to trash the radio, and Mama Morton starts tuning it in- and the radio starts playing the music for class. Then they start singing, a red light shining on both of them with their feet up, drinking smoking- singing the song the same way old people complain about how young people have it easy. It actually looks quite funny cos Queen Latifah keeps smirking.
The Behind the scenes feature is good- interviewing the cast and creators-and it ends with 'All That Jazz' being played, with different scenes from the movie edited in like a music video.
The DVD also has directors commentary, which i haven't listened to yet.
I expected a bit extra- I checked for 'easter eggs' but there are none (yet- some easter eggs are found in creepy ways). I expected the trailer of the film- the dvd box ghas inserts for the 'Chicago' stage play- to win tickets to see it in New York- and advert for the soundtrack, and 'Christmas DVD ideas'. The start of the dvd- before the menu has trailers for 'Frida' 'The Hours' and 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind'. I know not many people pay much attention to all the features- but maybe clips from the stage play in comparison to the film or 'movie storyboards' or the 'filmography' of the cast would have been a nice inclusion.
The best thing about the behind the scenes 20 minute feature is it shows footage of rehearsals, with Zeta Jones dancing 'I can't do it alone' with her hair tied back and in regular clothes, and dancing all that Jazz at rehearsals, the cast recording the songs and the director Rob marshall dancing with a feather boa on stage to show Katherine what to do.
Still a great dvd- and the picture quality is fantastic.

On another of topic note- when I was younger watching the Oscars, I thought 'Best Picture' category meant 'Picture Quality'- so I thought some films were robbed of their oscars.

I thought it was coming out the 19th...hmm thats just me....Anyways, I already have it...it's a screener copy. But there's no special features or anything. And I'm pretty sure that the only extra footage that is supposed to be on it is "Class" but then again, I could be wrong.

I just heard audio commentary on Class (by the way TradingMooses I'm in the UK- it's out earlier here- i also had a screening dvd) and the director and producer wanted Class to be in the movie so much they came up with ideas. One was to have Velma and Morton in the court kind of in another 'Roxie vaudeville segemnt' were Roxie imagines performing a strip tease to win the judges favour- while Velma and Morton sing about people having no class. i think it's a good idea. another was for Roxie to return to the prison and overhears them talking about her. And the other one wasn't quite clear- something about 'drag' and the piano. I got a couple of screen caps from Class- but I'll only post one-I'm not sure if this'll work (I'm no good at inserting images from my desktop)

ahh. Can you please try posting that again? Please...I'm really curious about how they'll show "Class." You can't use the img code for pictures saved on your hard drive, only images with URL's. You attach it from that thing at the bottom where it says "attach file." I really want to see "Class." :)
