Bubba's last name was Hoover, Don Bexley is the name of the actor played him.

Ok If Bubba's last name on the show was Hoover how come in the episode with BB King he says to BB King My Name is Bubba Bexley BB but you can call me BB BB Thats not the only time he was called Bubba Bexley on the show either. I know the Actor who played him was Don Bexley but his character name was Bubba Bexley not hoover. Ok if his last name on the show was hoover tell me in what episode was Bubba ever called or said his name was Bubba Hoover

I checked my book, Total Television & they have him as Bubba Hoover while Imdb, has him as Bubba Bexley. I would almost swear I seen at least one episode where he was referred to as Bubba Hoover. Another similar case was Goober's last name on TAGS, In at least one episode, his name was Goober Beasley but most everyone remembers it being Pyle.

I'm a huge Sanford and Son fan, too, and I just can't remember anytime during any of the shows Bubba is referred to as Bubba Hoover. I've seen one or two (or maybe more) where he was referred to as Bubba Bexley.
That episode last night was one of the earlier ones, and maybe something happened with his name similar as to what took place on Everybody Loves Raymond. The Pilot of ELR has two boys named Gregory and Jeffery. However, an episode or two later, the boys who played them changed and their names changed to Michael and Jeffery.
Maybe early on the producers and directors liked the name Hoover and then opted for Bexley later. I don't know, but it sure creates conversation among aficionados, doesn't it?

I always knew of him as Bubba Bexley. Esther even called him "that big mouth Blabber Bexley."
