Something unusual about Barney Miller is that it seemed that the creators of the show had a sort of core group of actors and actresses that they used constantly as supporting cast. Sometimes they played the same character and sometimes different characters and no attempt was made to make them look different. I have not seen this done in another show as it was done with Barney Miller.

When this topic comes up, usually Ken Tigar's name comes to mind (The Werewolf); personally I found him hilarious as Jesus Christ. His exchange with Harris was priceless! Jesus: Hi, I'm Jesus Christ... Harris (without missing a beat as he shakes his hand): Ron Harris, nice to meet you!... however there were other memorable supporting cast members. Don Calfa is one of my favorites. One of my favorite characters that he played was the lobotomy patient. He had the same type of crazy eyes as John Astin (The Addams Family).

i liked Ken Tigar, especially in the Possession episode. and J.J. Barry as Arthur Duncan, the guy who mugged the blind guy and the clown.
