View Full Version : Your Ideal Adult Life
Since we are mostly teenagers here, I want to know: What would be your ideal adult life? Where would you live? What kind of home? What kind of job? Married? How many children? What type of hobbies? Feel free to add other details...
My ideal adult life would be like this....
I want to live in a Southern California suburb, most preferably a cul-de-sac in Granada Hills It's easier to befriend your neighbors that way, even though some may turn on you. A cul-de-sac would be perfect because you can easily have parties and such in the middle and it'd be fun to drive circles lol. I'd be married (to whom, I don't know) with 3 children: a daughter named Siobhan, a daughter named Erica, and a son named Fielding (seriously lol). I'd work as a doctor, or maybe I'd be a soap opera he-diva (heva for short). I'd have a home computer, of course, with SO threads printed off of it and stacked on the desk onside of it, so the kids could read what daddy enjoys lol. We'd have subscriptions to various magazines including TV Guide, Biography, ABC Soaps in Depth, Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Weekly, so the kids would know why daddy loves his stories. I'd raise the kids to be nice, interesting people, but to be smart in their decisions. I'd show them tapes of primetime soaps instead of letting them watch Jerry Springer. I'd be involved in their school too. If my child comes home saying the teacher hates them, I will go to school and tell that teacher off! For Christmas, we'd come back to Louisiana so they can be with the family and such. Back in Granada Hills, they'd attend public school, and I wouldn't force them into sports. Hell, I'd turn them away from sports. I'd let them spend the night over at their friends' houses. I'd be, well, the perfect parent. With my job, I'd try to be a well-respected doctor. If I can't be a doctor, I'd be a TV actor. Perhaps a primetime soap actor myself? Yeah, I can deliver a good slap. When the kids grow up and out, me and the wife would enjoy our senior years doing what we do best -- be good people. Sure, we'll hate a neighbor or two, but we'd be good people.
How would your life be?
vienna waits 07-31-2003, 02:26 AM I dont even want to think about adult life! I'll go to college for four years.. get a job. Get a masters. Save up a lot of money. I want to get married in my late twenties.. and have two kids. 2 boys.
None of this appeals to me right now though.
Chad22 07-31-2003, 02:31 AM I Wanna live in a big house right here In Maine with a Wife, 2 Sons Chad Jr. And Peter, And a girl that id let my wife name. I Also want to have a cabin by the lake to go to whenevr i feel like it.

Crimson and Clover 07-31-2003, 02:32 AM I want to live in the mountains, i dont really care which ones as long as its pretty. I want a little cabin like house on a lake. I will be married to Jose and have a daughter (dont know what her name will be, probably Jasmine.) I will have my own little shop in the closets city and make everything that i sale in it. My child will probably be home schooled. I would raise my kid to be understanding and openminded to everything I would come home often so my mom will be able to see her granddaughter.

Small Wonderian 07-31-2003, 02:36 AM My adult life would be....
Making an 8-year career in the Air Force (and also going to school to pick up my Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry), then re-opting for another 6 years of service. By the middle of the second stint of military duty, I would get married (after I dated the woman of my life for a while). After marriage, we would live on-base in military housing either on Langley AFB in Norfolk, VA or Bolling AFB in Washington, DC (one of those two bases would be my base choice). While my wife is either getting started on her career or in the middle of it, I would slowly start to wrap up my military career and focus on going to graduate school to pickup a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry (or something close to that). Once I officially get an honorable discharge from the Air Force, me and my wife would buy a house in western Maryland (preferably around the city of Cumberland). Then we would start to focus on having some kids. By the time my third year of graduate school rolls around, I hope to have 2 or 3 kids (maybe more) with my beautiful wife. The kids would be baby-sat by my mother or her mother and/or father while we are at school/work, then the kids would be with us during the evening and overnight hours, and at times in which we can stay home. After graduate school, I would immediately find an internship at a major chemical company and work there for an "x" amount of time. My wife would be close to finishing her career and then she would probably settle down in a more time-friendly job so she can watch the kids a little more. The kids would be placed in day-care around the age of 3 or 4 and then enrolled in school shortly afterwards. They will grow up to be successful adults, and me and my wife will still be working, but will start to slow down and think about retirement. Then, me and my wife will retire and live off of our savings and pensions (we hope to have a lot of money when we grow old) and live the rest of lives happily and contentedly.
Hollow 07-31-2003, 02:40 AM Good topic
I'm definitely gonna be a model. i'm not a teenybopper with a stupid dream, the truth is i've never been interested until modeling agencies started asking me to be one. So i'm gonna be one since so i can be famous and rich... lol. I'm gonna get a big 2 floor baby blue house and a pink VW bug (if not pink, any color, i love VW bugs.) i want a few kids but not too many... and i'm gonna let them dress how they want and do what they want because i know what its like to not have those freedoms. And... I'M GONNA HAVE PAPER DISHES!!! That's right- no washing the dishes! Paper plates, paper bowls, paper napkins, paper cups, plasticware...i cant wait.

Get a maid to wash them for you...lol. ;)
anyways...my adult life...heh...um....lets see...
I will be out of college and have a degree in something (music, theatre, teaching, whatever). I would like to pursue my dream of acting and singing because performing has always been my first love. I'd be married in my late 20's, early 30's. Maybe have a kid or two, even though I really dont want any. I'd own a house in California probably. And if I ever do become rich and famous, I'd buy my mother a house. And I give some money to family and charities. I'd make movies and albums. But I wouldnt want to be over-popular, just moderately popular...yeah...
starsprite 07-31-2003, 03:51 AM Finish getting my BEd, move to California preferably(or stay here)...be a kindergarten teacher, open my own dance studio, be a cheerleading coach and if I could do some acting in there that would be great too. I want to get married, have 3 kids: 2 boys(Zack and Eric) and 1 girl(Lissa) and ya that's about all...live a nice happy life! :)
Mijada 07-31-2003, 10:27 AM Well I'm 31 now and my adult life isn't really what I imagined it to be when I was a teen. I always thought i would be married by now with a house and a whole bunch of kids, I just haven't found the right person yet. I guess I'm pretty happy though. I have a decent job and am independent. I don't have to answer to anybody. It still would be nice to have a boyfriend (theres this neighbor guy I sort of have my eye on though. I hope to "accidently" bump into him in the parking lot or something) Even if I don't marry or have kids I will not regret it, lifes too short for that.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 07-31-2003, 02:57 PM I'll be discovered as this awesome writer, then I will move to NYC and get a job as the head writer of SNL. I'll also become an actress...maybe stand up comedy or something, with a little work. In NYC I'll meet the perfect guy who has to be funny, yet smart...and cute and sweet. We'd get married and I'd make my dad and mom's boyfriend sit together at the wedding because they hate each other and I'm sick of it...so when I get married they'll be too happy to get mad at each other. I'll basically force them to be friends. So anyway, the perfect guy and I will have two girls named Audrey (the oldest) and Maya. I've always liked those names. Since I'd be rich, I'd give a lot of my money to poor people...I don't need a big house...what am I going to do with a big house? Walk in it? Sorry, I don't do walking. :p I don't need a big pool or anything like those rich people either. A normal sized one is fine. I don't need a lot of electronic crap either...like all those rich people have. They have everything. I don't want my kids being spoiled now do I? So anyway, we'd all basically be one big happy family. Yay. :D
That's what I want, hey, you asked for ideal life :p
Stormtracker TF 07-31-2003, 03:05 PM I want to be an Architect, get married around my later 20s and live in a rather large waterfront house, and have 3 or 4 kids. And id buy a Cabin up in maine to go to in the winter. To me that would be an ideal life for me.
*Marilyn Monroe* 07-31-2003, 03:11 PM Hmm...this is a very good topic!
I have 2 lifes that I want, but I dont know which one I want most. lol This is a problem.
1. Finish high school, go to a good school, get a job as whatever I can get, and work my way up to the top. This plan also includes getting married and having kids. Not so sure I want this one.
2. Finish high school, get into a VERY good school, become a doctor, and work my way up there, to become a renowned doctor. This plan includes having a huge family, too. That's important to me, now. I want a ton of kids, but I dont know how I'll work that into my life.
I'll live in New York, hopefully. Or somewhere on the East Coast.
I forgot some things. I want to adopt a baby, give money to breast cancer and AIDS research charities, have a pool, and have a maid. :D
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 07-31-2003, 03:11 PM What I want in my fantasy world and what will happen in reality are completely different, but in my ideal life...
I would move to NYC when Im 21 and stay for a few years- I only want to live their while Im young. I dont know what Id want for a job- manicurist at a nice salon in Manhattan. Id love to work for TV there though. Id meet a guy there and fall in love. We would get married. I want to get married at 22, but I dont really see that happening lol. When we get married Id love to move to Maryland for a while- or even outside the city of New York. I dont like change, so Id love to go back to Danville and live here forever. I have no desire to be pregnant, but I want kids. Two boys would be awesome. Id name them Chris and Jason. Girls would be nice, but I have no particular name for one, plus I dunno.. Id just love to have boys. We'd be a close family- like on Family Ties or Happy Days. Id want the boys the first 2 boys to be within a year or 2 of eachother, and the other one born about 5-6 years after. I want dogs- no more than 7. Of course everyone wants to be filthy rich, but Id love to be upper-middle class. I like being able to go on vacations now whenever we please and dont have to worry about things, and Id love to be able to do that with my family. I want good kids- like on Leave It To Beaver. Yah, they get in trouble, but its all innocently done. Im so worried now that Id wind up having bad kids like on Jenny Jones and theyd be druggies sleeping around and drinking. I was never taught these things, but I never did them. I plan on drilling my kids about it when theyre real young and just hope for the best. I want to be a very leniant parent, but still enforce the rules. Id love for my kids to be open with me and be able to joke around about certain things. I want my kids to do good in school, but I wouldnt be upset with them if they got all C's- just as long as theyd put the effort in and try their best, Im proud of them. Oy, Im going off topic.

~*Hannah_Lee*~ 07-31-2003, 10:53 PM I'm not sure what I want to do with my life. I think about it sometimes, but my ideas are always too far-fetched to ever happen...so I dont think about it too much any more. So I really have no idea....I wanna finish high-school, go to college but I'm not for sure what I wanna do, and I wanna have my own house. I'd like to get married, but I dunno if that will happen.
-*Leah*- 07-31-2003, 11:01 PM I want to finish high school and college. When I get out I want to move a few states away, and get a good job as an elementry teacher, and get settled into my own home. Then I want to hopefully find someone, and fall in love, get married, move into another house (BIGGER) in the same neighborhood where I could teach at the same school, and someday have 2 kids (girl & boy) then just live my life out from there.:p
Brent88 08-08-2003, 11:21 PM Let's see...
I'll be 18 in 2006...
my adult life... college, then going into the Journalism or Meteorology field(probably both) then after college once I get into my mid or late 20s, marry a beautiful wife and have several kids. I want to live up north, but want to have frequent trips to the beach.:p
~LadyJess~ 08-08-2003, 11:25 PM Let's see...10 years from now I'll be 27. I'd like to teaching English and history, preferably the honors classes, in high school either in South Carolina or here at the same high school I attended. I hope to be married to the man of my dreams, who loves me and will protect me, we will have one child already, a girl, and will eventually have two more, another girl and a boy.
Can you tell I've thought about this before? ;)
Sitcomwriter 08-10-2003, 06:49 AM My ideal adult life would be to have a relationship like Paul and Jamie on "Mad About You".I'm almost exactly like Paul. Now I have to find my Jamie.
LucyFan 08-10-2003, 10:19 PM At this moment in time, looking into the future does not really appeal to me. But I have given it some thought.
I really don't have a definite clue what I want to be. One day . . . I said I wanted to be a talk show host and the other day I changed my mind to being a writer, and the day after that I wanted to be therapist for troubled teens. Basically . . . I'm in a state of confusion concerning my job.
When I become fully independent . . . I would like to move to Southern California preferably between the cites of Palm Springs, Los Angeles, and San Diego. I would like to own ranch and have a companion in life (Guy or Gal whichever one comes first). I'm not sure if I want kids or not because I know how difficult it can be on a parent. I wouldn't want the stress or the pain of having to deal with the added pressure. Then again, it might not be that way either. I would like to write some books within my lifetime and hopefully they be best-sellers. Then, last but not least . . . I desire to grow stronger in my relationship with God and hopefully drive out people who are in the dark and help them see the light.
Cashodeen 08-11-2003, 05:33 AM Shucks, what do I want to do with my adult life?
I guess I still want to get an M.D. degree and specialize in pediatric hematology/oncology. IDEALLY (afterall, that is the topic :) ), I also would like a PhD degree in biochemical research. Damn that's a lot of school!
Hmm... get married in my early 30s after I spend a suitable amount of time getting the dating and partying out of my system in my 20s. I'll marry some very attractive and successful guy, maybe a lawyer. I also want 3 children, preferably two girls and a boy. Some pets too. I also will live in a populated area, probably in California.
