Exactly!! You had Yankees baseball...The greatest newsteam of all time including Pat Harper...Odd Couple, Honeymooners....And you usually had two other episodes of the Odd Couple in the early evening!!.. And a Abbott and COstello movie every Sunday morning right after church and IHOP!!. WPIX was once a great station!!

If it had the same programming today back then I probably would have went outside and played more..got hit by a car and be dead!!!

WPIX you forgotten who you are!! Now its Mets Games, Friends, and Springer....YUCH!! BLEH!!!

And who can forget after Harper News and before the Odd Couple was the 11 Alive Editorial. What's your opinion, we'd like to know! I certainly miss Abbott and Costello on Sunday mornings. Right after church and just before the pasta! Those were the days. :lol:

I used to get WPIX on satellite years ago and they were indeed worth watching, Yankee's Baseball, Honeymooners, Batman & last but not least, The Twilight Zone Marathons that put Sci-Fi to shame.:)

We'd Like to Know!!...You know I dont remember what any of those editorials were about..Or one subject done with them...All I remember is the Channel 11 circle logo behind the WPIX announcer...BLah BLah Blah..Then that magic phrase...What's Your Opinion?? I forgot to mention The Abbot and Costello movies on Sunday. I was just telling my husband about them the other night. How I loved watching them with my brother. I have to see if they have any DVD available.

It's nice to see some fellow Wpix fans out there. That was the greatest lineup ever. Although I thought that Star Trek came on at 12am instead of the Twilight Zone?

We are abandoned WPIX fans!! WPIX was by far the best station when I was a kid.....Channel 5 and 9 were the other metro channels...5 could offer nothing but Merv Griffen and horrible Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island repeats..I would only watch that channel for the occasional Bugs Bunny or Flintstones cartoon...Channel 9 was cool only on Saturday afternoons...You would get a cheesy Karate movie (for whatever reason i loved those) and then WWF superstars!!

From Top to Bottom WPIX totally lost its way!!! It has nothing to offer at all now. And I NEVER watch it...

A couple of other stuff off the top of my head..WPIX had the Magic Garden!!!....Remember that one??...I watched that even at age fifteen...Heckle and Jeckle, and Tom and Jerry!!...Match all that with the nitro power of Odd Couple and Honeymooners...And the TNT punching power of Yankees Baseball and Sunday Morning Abbott and Costello movies....WPIX USED TO EXPLODE!!

You lost your way WPIX...Please come back!!!

Do you remember when WPIX had video games and kids use to call into the station and play. The kids would have to scream "Pix", "Pix", "Pix!" to fire a missle or something goofy like that.

P.S. I also use to miss the Godzilla marathons they use to have on channel 9 the day after Thanksgiving.

Wow Man..You are too much!! I thought i was sick for remembering that stuff...Yes..PIX PIX PIX...those were actually endorsements for Intellivision!! Some video game system...I remember they had Tic Tac Toe..and then went on to missle command or something like that....YOu had the occasional kid who was clueless and would shout reapeatedly pixpixpix without breathing!!.

some people watched football on Thanksgiving...I watched the King Kong marathons on channel nine...then on friday would be Godzilla.... They would always air Mighty Joe Young, King Kong, and Son of King Kong!! I did not want to come to the table.... They usually ended by the second half of the Dallas game!!...

We had Season Tickets to the Jets....I remember begging my father to wait for Abbott and Costello to end before going.... I still have the season tix and even that is worse.(Giants Stadium?)..Bring Back Shea for the Jets....I want it ALL BACK!!! IT WAS SOLEN FROM ME!!

I do remember Star Trek also at 12 am I thought they showed it when they changed the lines up from The Twilight Zone?

For some reason I remember odd couple, honeymooners , Twilight zone. maybe I am mistaken could The Twilight Zone have come on after Star Trek? That just seems so late.

I also LOVED the Godzilla, King Kong, etc movies during the hoildays.

I'll tell you I was just think about all of this just a few weeks ago and how I miss it all.

I was telling my daughter how it was so nice to look forward to seeing movies like The Wizard of Oz and will Wonka and The chocolate Factory and all the Christmas cartoons that was played during the hoilidays. It's not like now, you can just pop in a tape or DVD.. I miss that.... I feel old!! LOLOL

No discussion of the old WPIX could be complete without an honorable mention of Captain Jack McCarthy. Aside from hosting New York's St. Patrick's Day Parade for over 40 years, he also hosted Popeye cartoons at 3PM on 11 Alive every weekday. He would show a Little Rascal short and maybe a 3 Stooges short and then end the show with a Popeye cartoon. He'd sign-off saying"here's smooth sailing kids" with a spin of the captain's wheel. 11 Alive provided some solid childhood memories. :wave:

As far as I remember those only recently stopped...Jack looked like he was near death in the last few...(Either that or he was drunk off his A$$!!)

I remember the Three Stooges being on WPIX. Another great reason that 11Alive was the best!!

Steve Bosh/Pat Harper...Jerry Girard with sports...(Jerry Girard was a genuinely funny sports guy...not manufactured)..

Popeye would come on at 6:30 am and I would sometimes get up to catch it before school!!

THe Magic Garden was on right after school with those two Hippie chicks!! and once a week Joya's Fun School!!

Going back to that Intellivision Live Pix game where kids played the video game live to win a prize... I remember one time they almost had a meltdown on the air....The system didnt work for whatever reason...and the announcer screamed back (i guess thinking the viewers could not hear him) WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON>..?? and screaming a couple of other things for that matter!!......

Someone was asking about Abbott & Costello films, I know Meets Frankenstein and Meets the Mummy are available, along with 8 volumes of the 1950's half hour shows. Some other films like In the Navy, Buck Privates and a few others are out of print. They can be found on ebay, of course. :)

Jerry Girard was the best! Do you remember the commercials for WPIX where they had this guy look for a symbol that best represented Channel 11? And every commercial you'd see the Twin Towers in the background, but the guy never saw it. I forgot what the guy's name was, but I remember the commercials vividly.
