View Full Version : Opening Credits
I loved the opening credits last night because I haven't seen season three and just getting a 'peek' at it made me smile http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif My question is though that in the 2nd season and so far in the 3rd season Jo has the same picture in her opening credit...the one that that blue shirt and her nodding and giving a small smile. Is this an actual scene or something they just let Nancy do? If it is a scene do you know which episode it came from?
Also, in season 2 opening credits it had a clip of Jo and Natalie doing the dishes and Natalie laughing and Jo staring at her like she had lost her mind...which episode did this come from? ...was it one they skipped? Any answers would be appreciated http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Thanks!
P.S. How so ya like my new signature?

Jo: Yeah, kinda makes you wish ya had a paper shredder.
Blair: I understand your jealousy, Jo. My face says Harper's Bizzare. Yours just says bizarre.
Jo: Hey, who's jealous. You won't win. ...Unless of course it's for a Lassie look alike contest.
Blair: When I win you'll be parking out of the other side of your mouth.
Jo: Why don't you put your money where your muzzle is Benjy?

Michele35 01-17-2001, 07:40 PM Yep, FOLMrsGandNat is right. I recall that those pix were from an actual episode. I couldn't recall which one although 'Shoplifting' makes sense since we didn't see it and it was one of the controversial eps not shown. I noticed that they changed Blair's picture quite often during the opening credits as opposed to Jo who usually had the same picture for one or two seasons at a time.
Funny, too, how Jo had a varied wardrobe throughout season #2 and in later seasons seemed to only wear the green/army shirt when not wearing her Eastland uniform.

Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?
Jo: Beats me, Tootie.
Thanks you guys for your help. I wish I could've seen that episode...
Michele-
I know what you mean about the wardrobe thing. It was weird how in the 2nd season she had a various wardrobe like everyone else, but in the third season she always wore that camouflage. Nancy might not have gone through an 'awkward' stage on screen, but the writers and wardrobe people certainly put Jo through an 'awkward' stage...
FOL85NatandMrsGRock 01-17-2001, 07:48 PM actually yes nick at nite DID show the episode Shoplifting... 3 times...
1. 1st run of the marathon
2. 2nd run of the marathon
3. 1st run through the whole series
you were all just too slow and didn't get into the facts of life until later... sorry... but you'll either have to wait until next time around or you'll have to wait until it comes on a make your own sunday or some other marathon type thing they might hold! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
But i am positive it is from those shows... i ahve the shoplifting episode on tape and when mrs. garrett talks to jo and the girls after she got caught at the store for supposedly shoplifting... mrs. g says something and jo's like... well of course not that's somethign blair woudl do... (or somethign along those lines) Mrs. Garrett's 2nd season picture in the credits is ALSO from the shoplifting episode she is saying... "Well bless your heart" if you look at the opening credits you can tell that is what mrs. garrett is saying.... i'm trying to think what other pictures they showed from this episode... i don't know... but they DID air this episode on Nick at Nite 3 times... you just weren't into facts of life then i guess.... too bad i guess..

Michele35 01-17-2001, 08:02 PM Yep. I was slow and missed alot of the episodes during the first run through N@N!! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif
I agree, ks, I'm a big Jo fan but thought the wardrobe department could've dressed her in something a little more flattering than the camouflage clothes. I'm sure most teenagers from the Bronx didn't dress that way, lol, but I guess they were trying to portray an image with the character. I thought Jo dressed the best in season #2 and season#9. Poor Nancy was stuck wearing either the camouflage or the terrible 80's style clothes in the other seasons.

Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?
Jo: Beats me, Tootie.
Cokies 01-17-2001, 09:25 PM I think it was more of the forth season that she wore the army outfit quite a lot.I think most of you know, that the forth season was also when the girls went through their 'Fats of Life' period. So I think they kept her in that camo wear to cover up the 'chub'(I could'nt think of a better word). The third season was'nt that bad, wardrobe wise.

TVaddict 01-17-2001, 09:39 PM Ok, I still stand by that I NEVER recall Jo ever going through this whole "Fats of life' thing. The others did have their, as I like to call it, "not-so-skinny" times (haven't we all) but I want someone to tell me a specific episode where Jo was EVER even remotely overweight.
Devastation26 01-17-2001, 10:18 PM I can't think of any.
Cokies 01-17-2001, 11:46 PM Yeah, she did. I am very sure of it. Jo's worst year was the forth season. For proof, watch 'Daddy's Girl' or 'The Facts of Life Goes to Paris'. Even in 'Take My Finals, Please'. She was getting big around the edges about that time, but she got better by season 5...

TVaddict 01-18-2001, 12:41 AM I'm going to have to stand by my belief that she never got really big. I mean, yes she was a little bigger than the beginning of the show, but she was 14 years old! She never got to a point where you could call her overweight (IMO anyway)
FOL85NatandMrsGRock 01-18-2001, 03:54 PM God what do you want them to do STARV themselves? I mean they can't be that cinniminn chick who can make her hands make an O around her stomach and they touch!!! No!! they were JUST perfect!! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif Hehe... and who cares if they were getting this soo called "fat" cuz we all puff out sooner or later!!! I mean... look at Charlotte Rae... she must have starved herself to get that skinny in like the 3 month time period between screening... come on! That's not right! They shouldn't have to consistently eat a carrot every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! They are humans! They need to eat!!

JoBlaiRNaTooT 01-18-2001, 06:18 PM way to say it FOL85NatandMrsGRock!!! (i hope i spelled that all right). i agree that jo never got fat or even chubby. she's more of what a normal girl that age looks like, not these little tiny lollipop stick people that the media tries to make us think are normal sized. jo seemed healthy, not anorexic. i think it's horrible that they were referred to as "the fats of life." that's how anorexia starts, because of nasty comments like that. and i think it's good the FOL girls didn't pay attention to the criticism.

Cokies 01-18-2001, 10:02 PM Whoa, sorry, I was just saying she got a little big around the edges in the forth season(compared to other seasons). Just watch 'Daddy's Girl', you have to say she got a little big about that time. Even one of the directors, John Bowab said , 'Nancy was getting to be quite a big girl'. So i'm not the only one...

Fol_divison_rox_505 01-18-2001, 10:20 PM i think it is wrong how hollywood has these images of the prefect person which makes people starve them self to death and it is just sick~ also i live in one of those towns which hollywood could be looking at for the anorix idea because all the girls in my grade are all sooooo skinny and at lunch they dont eat anything. All my friends are cheerleaders(my whole lunch table...ahhh)and they have stuff like waist watchers drinks and it is sick...and i am not like them at all... i am not the cheerlead or tall at all! i am the short and small sporty type*(hockey rules hehee)and i compare my self to them and it makes me sick because they all starve themselfs kinda like what hollywood dose to stars!!! stop the madness!

Nat: Hello sailor!
Tootie: hot stuff coming through, and the pizza's are warm too!
Jinny: if you pinch my a$$ one more time, i'll kick your's
Jinny: i think i am going to give up men
Magda: you, give up sex?
Jinny: i didn't say i was giving up sex, i just said i was giving up men! to tell you the truth i kinda like the idea of becoming intamate with something that comes with a money-back gaurentee!
Blair: thunder thighs is hanging up her spikes...
Sue Ann: and you just gave me a great idea were to put them
TVaddict 01-18-2001, 10:28 PM Eating rules. Nobody should have to give it up for any reason. Facts of Life girls rule, and in the words of Billy Joel, "I love you just the way you are."
I know I got a little corny there, but I felt it was necessary.
