It happens to me only when I go to certain web pages. The best thing you can do is to have a pop-up blocker and an anti-virus software program. Use them both religiously.
My computer also freezes up sometimes, but once you restart it, provided that you can't get back into using it (sometimes that happens), you need to clear a lot of clutter on the machine. Delete old junk files and other stuff that's taking up a lot of space.

Good looking out!!! :)
Stormtracker TF 07-29-2003, 11:09 PM Happens to me all the time. I usually have to do Ctrl Alt Delete. I have no idea how to stop it or why its happening, but I really hate it.

Yeah, I have this problem sometimes too. I also do the alt ctrl delete thing. That stops it. Just curious........... do you have Windows XP? I do and I wonder if it is X P doing this? What do you think?
I have Norton Systems Antivirus installed and nothing ever shows up. So I don't think it's a virus.

This actually happened the other day. I try the CTRL ALT DL thing, but its easier for me to just X out each box. I go fast enough and manage to get them all.

I have Windows ME. Must just be a bug.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 07-31-2003, 11:12 PM :cuss: It just did it again. I had gotten disconnected, then SO window got all crazy and started flashing going to all these sites. The other window did it too. Then, I logged back on, and like 7478932 windows popped up. Mother :grady:
Blair_Warner02 08-01-2003, 10:25 AM I had that problem.
I also had a WJView error (from Limewire) that would come up everytime I started Windows XP. It screws up your PC like you wouldn't believe. I went to Limewire support to get rid of it.
I also downloaded Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.com to get rid of any spyware. Now it just finds tracking cookies.
I also make sure my virus scanner is up to date and scan for viruses often. My firewall also does a good job blocking them. (People attempt to give my PC Kuang2TheVirus several times daily)
Clean temporary internet files often.
Run scandisk and disk defragmenter.
I never had anymore problems.
PZelda 08-01-2003, 10:47 AM If your pop up killer isn't that great, I suggest http://panicware.com/product_psfree.html, you get a free version of a REALLY great pop up killer, Pop Up Stopper. I've been using it since 2000 and love it!

Yea i get those blocked sometimes, you using Sygate? However It might just be a scan to see if you have it so the person could connect to it and find info about you...

No I am using McAfee Personal Firewall. All attempts get blocked by the firewall and I can report them/ban IP's/etc.

Oh ok... go to www.grc.com
they have a test to test your firewall to make sure its blocking the big ports used by hackers...

My firewall told me it was a trojan and automatically blocked it.
Truth 08-01-2003, 10:08 PM Did u try the sheilds up port scanner?
Blair_Warner02 08-01-2003, 10:31 PM It passed the majority of the test.
Solicited TCP Packets is the only thing that failed under Common Ports.
Under file sharing it could only establish a connection but couldn't find any ports.
Under All service ports all of the squares are green except for the first two which are blue.
I spammed myself but i'm not sure if it did anything.
Truth 08-01-2003, 10:43 PM oh ok, good to see you are concerned about your security.. have you tried spybot?

No I have Ad-Aware and I just cleaned out all of that junk today.
SheildsUp sent me a lot of trojans which were all blocked by the firewall. The firewall does not trust SheildsUP. Were talking over 5000 events.

Trojans are programs put on your computer like viruses... acting like a legit program but doing bad things... All that the SheildsUp sends is a request to see if those ports respond or not... Its good that your firewall didn't trust Sheildsup, SheildsUp is just a test to see if the ports will respond or not... If it was going to trust Sheildup's Port scans... then it may trust hackers... Thank god that it blocked there attempts :)

Yea i use Sygate for Firewall, Norton for anti virus, and ad-aware and spybot for spyware removal...
Blair_Warner02 08-01-2003, 11:27 PM I use McAfee for Firewall, Virus Scanning and they have a Privacy Service which basically blocks Spyware (only if you're not downloading a program) and Cookies (only if you want to reject them) and best of all it's password protected so no one can get online if they didn't get permission to use my computer (I have my own)
The other computer that the rest of the family uses runs extremely slow (probably spyware) and uses Norton for Virus scanning. As far as I know there is no firewall on it. Someday I'll get around to trying to remove all the spyware.
Babes_Cat 08-01-2003, 11:45 PM That sucks... nope sorry. my computer is working normally.
