I had found for sale on E-Bay this pic of Freddie where he is holding his hankerchief in his hand & it said the pic was taken at a at an outdoor celebrity event. I had saved the pic to my puter. Someone on here had made it clearer. Had to remove the words E-Bay from it LOL! When I first saw it I origionally assumed maybe his allergies were bothering him. I have bad allergies that both me alot & have to use a hankie alot.

But recently when I looked at the pic I noticed it looks like he's been crying & might've stopped so the photographer wouldn't see. This really haunts me & I wonder what made the poor dear cry. Bless his heart. & sadly all those celebrities around & evidently no one noticed him or came over to see what was wrong. It has me wondering what happened to make him cry & feeling so sorry for him...

I don't see Fred crying. It seems more like he had a stuffy nose or it could be that he was wiping his brow. I hope he wasn't crying.

I don't believe he was crying either. Just happened to be holding either a kleenex or possibly a napkin in his hand. He looks hot to me...whoa!!!!

I had origionally thought maybe he had allergies but then after awhile it looked like to me like he might've been crying & I felt so sorry for him. It was so sad to think he'd been crying & no one noticed or stopped to comfort him. Either way it looked to me like he was holding a hankerchief in his hand like one of those nice cloth hankerchiefs (then again it could've been one of those disposable paper hankerchiefs, ya know the ones ya throw in the trash when they're all used up like ya do with a kleenex)...

Maybe it was his allergies bothering him... I have bad allergies & the dr said I am allergic to so much stuff they could never be able to tell what all I'm allergic to. I have to take pills for it. & Anything can trigger an allergic attack. I never know what will set one off & have my nose running or/and stuffed etc. I go thru plenty of hankies & have to carry a hanky with me & keep a supply of hankies nearby cuz I never know when I'm gonna need one. So I know what he must've been going thru with his allergies he had. So maybe it was just his allergies bothering him. I hope it was that & not him crying poor dear...

Either way he looked hot in that pic! :) I did up a new pic of that pic where it has less colors to it for a different effect... Enjoy!

I know that Freddie was a pretty sensitive man, but I wonder if he did cry in public very much..... from all that I read, in public he was good about keeping his true feelings to himself, joking and laughing about his pain instead of wanting to be a burden about it to others. I know there were a few times when the tears were caught on camera, but I get the impression he tried to show that trade mark grin through his pain so that others didn't know how much pain he was really in. It is speculated by many that this was the reason so many around him were shocked when he took his life, they really didn't know he was crying for help. He always wanted people to think he was in total control of his life, even when it was spinning out of control.... BTW this is all IMHO, for whatever that is worth! LOL

You did a GREAT job in making that pic bigger! :) :) How ya did it without it being blurred-- wish I could do that... He still looks to me to be kinda teary & sad but then again he might just be having his allergies bothering him & we'll never really know. But the pic somehow made me feel so sorry for the poor dear. If only he knew how we all cared for him.

I read where Freddie cried really easily cuz he was so sensitive & he'd cry at weddings & funerals. I had read that he'd cry alot at sad movies & watching sad movies would have him end up sobbing in his hankerchief. I read where his mom said she come in & finding watching a sad movie & sobbing in his hanky over it & she'd try to convince him it's just a movie & everything would be okay but he took it so hard poor dear...

I read where when he was best man in CATM producer Ray Andrades wedding, he got all teary walking down the isle & when he was at the alter & the couple said their vows, he cried. I also read that when he said his vows at his wedding he cried & also read that when the baby was born he cried.

I read where his mom said that when his Uncle Mango died who he dearly loved, he wanted to go to the funeral but his mom didn't think he should cuz she knew how sensitive he was & how upset he would get. But he asked her to let him go,. He'd never been to a funeral before. So Freddie went with his mom to the funeral. He got so upset of his Uncles death that he broke down & started crying & sobbing hysterically, sobbing in his hankerchief & his mom couldn't seem to comfort him no matter what she did. She said she then wish she hadn't brought him cuz it had upset him so bad.

I also read that when he'd do comedy gigs when he was first starting out & he wasn't too well received by the audience, he'd cry & get to crying so bad he'd have to wear sunglasses to hide his crying. & His friend Nat Blake would see him with the sunglasses on & just knew he was crying again.

When Freddie died in the 70's, I figured maybe it was that he being a guy kept his feelings inside & never let them show. But then after I became a fan of his thru the TVLAND re-runs & read how sensitive he was & cried so easily. I wondered if maybe he cried & when folks saw him he just shrugged it off to keep people from knowing how hurt he really was...

I have to agree with Lucky and Macca on this one if anything he maybe had allergies or the beginnings of a cold but i think it is morelikely he was at a picnic and didn't want to be alitter bug.
I have the pic from Ebay and it doesn't look like he has been crying.
It seems to me that you are a very sensitive person Cheryl and worry that others you care about are sad too but i don't think he was crying.

I just remembered that I had read somewhere that Freddie got colds easily due to his allergies & whenever he got a cold he'd worry that it might interfere with him doing CATM or his comedy act. He could've had a cold. Still to me he looks kinda sad & sweet... We'll probably never know whether he was crying or had his allergies bothering him or had a cold in the pic... But I'll assume he had his allergies bothering or a cold bothering him. & He looks so HOT! :) :) I guess I'm worrying about him too much but it just concerns me how folks didn't care about him when he was living & he got no help & is no longer with us. It's so sad... I used to not be so sensitive but anymore I am alot more sensitive than I used to be. I know it's too late to help Freddie now but I still can't help but be concerned about him. I think he would've been a great friend! He is so cute in the pic tho. You are so lucky to have an origional copy of that pic... :)

This should liven things up a bit! :) Someone had posted this pic of Freddie & Kathy merged with a pic of Jr & Sarah Michelle from a magazine & I had saved it on my puter. I saved a version where Freddie shows up more than anyone else. I noticed it looked like he was holding a hanky in his hand in this pic but he is definately happy & dressed so nice & Looking Good! :)

i used to watch Chico and the Man all the time when it was on TV Land, I was too young to remember when the show was on regular network televison, but I dated a man who saw a live taping of Chico and the Man back in 1975, all I can say I was very jealous;)

I did not know there were so many fans of this guy out there. I am a man so Im not into finding other guys sexy, etc. but to me he just looks like a typical skinny 70's type guy with long hair. What am I missing about this guy?

Sinatrastrar,
I guess the reason Freddie Prinze Sr has so many fans is because he had charisma, talent and latin charm. I think most of us on the boards love Freddie because he was so unique. At 19 years old he blew Johnny Carson away with his first appearance on the Tonight Show. He was the first ever comedian to be called over to sit down and talk with Johnny after his act. He went on to spend three years on CATM and with each new season he just got better and better. His relationship with Jack Albertson was like no other I have ever seen. I believe they admired and respected each other first as friends and them later on almost like father and son. His movie "The Million Dollar Ripoff" didn't get the best reviews, but after watching it, I think most of us agree that he made the movie. He could have been a great dramatic actor as well as doing comedy. His singing voice was wonderful and he could dance as well. At 22 years of age...Freddie Prinze was a force to be reckon with, a real powerhouse. We all miss him very much, but especially his talents that made us smile just a little bit more. Welcome to the boards. We love seeing new faces. Hope you come back and visit often.

very eloquent, and so true!!! I think you hit the nail on the head even though we talk about his looks...and lets face it he had them!! he was an all around multitalented guy who worked hard to get what he wanted both for himself and his family he is and always will be sorely missed!
Thank you Macca for that wonderful tribute

Prince

Of course. I remember Chico and the Man when it first aired. Freddie Prinze was quite the heart throb back then, just like some of the guys of today. He opened the door for a lot of Hispanic performers. He was one of the first Hispanics to make it really big and he didn't take that responsibility lightly. Ricky Martin had nothing on him. Freddie had heart. He was a gentle soul who took time for his fans and worked very hard to become the success he was...however short lived. By the way, thanks for your interest. It is welcomed and appreciated.

I was an impressionable teenager when Freddie first broke on the scene, he was 4 years older than I was. I fell in love with him from the first episode of CATM. Alas, I only got to see the first two seasons in its first run. I was in college by the third season and without a television. I was in shock when I heard about his death. It affected my generation, being an ugly indictment on the recklessness of recreational drug abuse. Even tho drugs were illegal back then, people took a cavalier view of the effects of drug abuse, I think because the effects weren't as evident as they are today. And more is known about the depression which Freddie suffered and the drugs prescribed to combat it. I truly believe that if Freddie had lived in this day and age, more and better help would have been available to him. After his death, I went on with my life, but rekindled the love I had for him when his life and career broke back on the scene in 2001, thanks to TV Land airing his show once again.

I was 13 years old when Freddie died. I remember watching the show when it originally aired in the early to mid seventies. My favorite episode was and still is "Reverend Bemis's altar ego" I remember taping it with my trusty cassette tape wanting have some kind of memory of it and keepsake back then. All because I adored Freddie's smile, his wit, and his way of making me laugh! I still look at that episode today with fond memories. I was watching the episode yesterday with the one that Tony Orlando appears as Tomas Garcia. I was sad for Chico, when Maria left him all because Chico didn't make a move on her thinking all men where dogs. Yet I was smiling when Chico howled at her direction after Maria slammed the door on him. Yet I was sad again when poor Chico was sad and Ed felt pity on him.. Sorry if I sound confusing but just seeing those episodes and watching Chico's emotions can put an effect on me and all of us here!

I agree, hue_mee! Freddie and Jack were such good actors, you couldn't help but feel the same emotions they were portraying at the time!! Whenever I see Chico's heartbroken expression after being dumped by a girl, I want to take him in my arms, let him cry on my shoulder, and then do whatever I can to make him feel better!! :D

I was about 12 or 13 when Freddie died-I had a crush on him by that time! Such a tall, dark and handsome guy!! :biglove:

there is a lot more to Freddie then the way he died and the deptression he suffered from. Believe me when i tell you that there are tons of threads where it is just plain the fun and enjoyment remembering Freddie and the talented comedian he was.
I don't mean to upset or hurt anyone but some are just more sensitive and see sadness in more about Freddie than the rest of us do. I hope you check out some of the past threads on here and maybe that will help you see why we like this board so much
