We've known since April (http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=398) that it was coming. But the details have finally been announced:

Columbia TriStar has issued release information today about Sanford and Son: The Third Season on DVD. Another 3-disc set, the running time is 596 minutes for the 24 episodes that aired that season. This is presented exactly as it aired: in 4x3 video format, with Mono sound, and closed captioned for the hearing impaired. The extras include an insert with an episode breakdown and some "fun facts", plus bonus trailers on the first disc.

List price is $29.95, and this junk will hit the streets on October 7th. Here are front & back covers, plus all three (similar-looking) main menus:

This is great news and I will be sure to get it when it is released, thanks for the info! I still need to buy the 2nd season but no problem I will have them all by the end of the year!:)

There are some classic episodes from that season that definitely will make this DVD a must.

The Blind Mellow Jelly Collection(Ditto on this one as well)
Fred Sanford,Legal Eagle(where Fred disrupts the courtroom when Lamont gets a traffic ticket)

Fred's Cheating Heart(where Lamont takes Fred to the hospital for an EKG test,and where Fred switches medical charts is hilarious when Fred finds out that he is going into surgery that the other guy is going in for hemorrahoid surgery)

So I think Season 1 &4 will come in 2004
and Season 6 will come in 2005.

I think they meant that they predict for seasons 4 & 5 (not 1 & 4) to come on DVD in 2004 and season 6 in 2005, because Columbia Tri-Star has already released both seasons 1 & 2 of Sanford and Son on DVD.

I ment Season 3

THANK GOD!!!!!!! Sanford and Son IS the greatest show of all time. I can finally replace all of my VHS tapes with another great season on DVD. Keep them coming!!!!!!!
