Anyone catch that Yankees Redsox game just now on ESPN? Wow! Good game.

I was out and didn't see it, but I certainly heard all about it when I got home. It's been a good season, but this is when the Sox start to nosedive.
I hate to sound so pessimistic, but it happens every year. :(

I heard a few things in the game, and somehow I knew it was good. Anyway, Boston won, right? Or, was this the game that Sierra hit a homer in at the end for the Yankees? Wish I coulda seen it.

Side-note: You know what annoys me about New York? When the Yankees are doing bad, the fans boo; that's sad.

hahah let the fans boo:)

the soxs won the game, they were trailing 3-0 into the 7th then Weaver walked a batter (i believe trot?) and then hit muller i think, well I am not exactly sure on the exact batters but then Tek hit a 3 run shot over the green monster and then damon followed with a solo shot to make it 4-3 and a little later Ortiz had a 2 run triple... and the sox went up 6-3...but in the top of the ninth the yanks got a run back but manny ended the game with a beautiful diving catch

Red Sox's Bill Mueller became the first MLB player ever to hit Grand Slams in one night from both sides of the plate. He did this against the Texas Rangers, I think Tuesday night.

When people say the Yankees suck on this board, I don't think they mean skill-wise. And I'd say I'd have to agree with them. It's rare I like something out of New York and California, really.

i konw that. ususally its not skills people look at its the team thats closest to them........ like i live in north jersey so i like the yankees if i lived in south jersey i'd probably like the phillies.... its not always like that but thats how things commonly are.

I agree with you there- The Boss needs to put his money where his mouth is and get some half-decent pitchers.

And 1918? Yes... 1918. 85 years. But at least we are still loyal to our team. You Yankee fans bitch and moan every year if you don't win the World Series... well, try being in our shoes. But we stick by the Red Sox thick and thin and we will until they win (which might I add, will be this year)

Yeah... but my friends helped change that :D See, I'm truly convinced that my family only likes the Yankees because they do nothing but win. And that's totally the wrong reason to be a fan of a team... i.e. the bitching and moaning Yankee fans. My family is a prime example. And I grew up feeling that if I didn't like the Yankees, I'd be kicked out of the house (I'm actually half serious on that) So ya know... now that I'm almost 15 and I understand the game of baseball a lot better, I think I can make my own decisions :D

In an unusually emotional display of appreciation for brilliance by baseball fans of an opposing team's player, Boston fans gave it all to Roger Clemens. Clemens won his 306th career game Sunday pitching for the rival Yankees against the Boston Redsox. More importantly the win would be and was Roger’s 100th career Fenway Park win. It will also be his final appearance ever at Fenway.

Despite the fact that the loss of the game for Boston sharply diminishes their chances for post-season play, the Boston fans were roused to give Clemens a standing-ovation as he left the mound in the seventh inning. Boston fans kept up the cheers, hoping that The Rocket would step back out of the dugout for a curtain call. Clemens, who later said he was choked up by the fans’ display, obliged by coming out and doffing his cap to the to the full Fenway house of 34,400 baseball fans.

You Sox fans can hope and pray all you want, but we all know how everything'll turn out. Boston starts to take a nosedive in late August / early September EVERY SEASON!!! What makes you guys think this year will be different?

Although I'm a diehard Yankee fan, I think the Bombers stink this year. (And they're still ahead of the Sox!!!) What does that tell you?

I've just got one thing to say...

Anyway...

I know that the Yanks sorta stink this year, but now that Jeter's back and he's hot, they're starting to pick up a bit. That last series with Boston was HUGE, and I'm glad they came out on top! Boston always has a shot, but it's probably not going to happen this year. I doubt that the Yanks will take it all this season, but the Sox really don't have much of a chance. Once, again...no offense! :)

Yesterday I was at the yankee game. It was a great game posado hit a grand slam and the yanks won 15-4. No offence to any Detriot fans, but they weren'y playing to well yesterday. The yankees had 4 errors and deriot still lost by more then 10 points.

Cocky and arrogant?no way! and the red sox players do like playing for the red sox. oh and by the way most red sox fans count their best player as NOMAR! not pedro and not manny. they're both good but ask any person who lives in boston who the red sox best player is and and most of the time they'll answer nomar. and guess who has the best home batting average in the league? no not jeeter, NOMAR does!

god...now i know why i hate the yankees so much...and the jets and all their other teams.

I don't know why, but I've always liked The Rocket. What's wrong with him? He's probably the best pitcher of our time (at least when he pitched for the Sox), and I have complete respect for him. Did any of you ever see his "Center Stage"? He was just like a regular guy! He's not full of himself!

I, personally, hate the way Sox fans treat Roger. Here's the thing. I guess you guys don't know this, but Roger didn't WANT to leave Boston!!! YOU threw him out! And now you're all over him every time he pitches at Fenway? The guy never DID anything! He was a great pitcher for you, and he didn't WANT to get traded...why do you rip him so much?

Yankee fans are sometimes considered crazy, but you Sox fans are the same way! If this situation was turned around, and Roger left the Yankees to go to the Sox, when The Rocket pitched for Boston in Yankee Stadium, he'd get a standing ovation...not boos!!! Yankee fan do that all the time.

alright what makes Boston fans mad is that his last few seasons with Boston he was only a .500 pitcher, and he was going go to a team out west to be with his family, but then suddenly Toranto offered for money and he went their, even farther from his family. Suddenly he gets into better shape then he was in Boston and gets a few Cy Young awards, and then the fact he goes to Yankees after Toranto...and but when the Rocket pitched his final game he got standing ovation in Boston

but my opinion on Clemons is that he was a great pitcher, one of the best ever, but as a guy, I am not a fan

I dont hate lawyer or drew...but thats another boston fans prespective...

yah, sorry the sox felt they deserved a little more his .500 years in Boston and then churing a few cy youngs out...but whatever think what you want to think, this is coming from the source, BOSTON...actually you would be surprised at how many fans in NY and Toranto dont like him as well, but you know I wish for once critics would get of Bostons back, because the people here have the uttmost respect for the guy and other athletes...

we wern't trying to make up for anything we 'did' to him. it was his last game why not cheer for him, we're just excited that he's not going to be back. did we treat him like crap? i would'n call the whole crowd shouting rooooooggggggggeeeeeerrrrr crap, actually i call it funny.

at least i'm honest.

and if i offend you i don't mean to. this is just my opinion.

The press is on BOSTON'S back??? No way! New York is known for lousy fans and THAT'S NOT TRUE!!!

You guys obviously have NO respect for Roger! How can you say that? You boo him like crazy EVERY time he comes to Fenway! If that's respect, The Rocket must REALLY be loved by you guys.

Shelly ~

I'm not telling you to CHEER Roger...just don't go after him like you always do! Sox fans aren't supposed to cheer on the Yanks, but at least show a little class, and don't rip the guy for being talented.

It doesn't really matter because when it is all said and done, Clemens will be going to the hall of fame a Red Sock.

here's what it really gets down to...he's on the yankees...i like the red sox...i don't really like that many yankees players. it really wouldn't make sense if i did.
talented...i wish he was a bit more 'talented' when he was on the red sox.

Oh, well. Too bad for you. You can't blame Roger for that.

Brian Damage ~

Roger CLEARLY stated that if he had to go into the Hall of Fame as a Red Sox, he wasn't going in AT ALL!!! And can you blame the guy? Would YOU want to go into the Hall of Fame with a team whose fans boo you EVERY time you come to their stadium? I sure wouldn't!

absolutly no one in boston has ANY regrets about booing roger, if he ever pitched at fenway again guess what? he would get booed! it's rather fun when you boo him, by the way. every one's shouting things at him the whole game. :)

we don't want him in the hall of fame as a red sox anyway, he won the world series as a yankee... it wouldn't make any sense at all.

I understand he doesn't want to be a Red Sock, but he has no choice. The Hall Of Fame chooses thanks to that idiot Wade Boggs!

Hmmm, I wonder if he'll do that? I'm sure after he retires, the Red Sox are going to try and make up with him.

why do they choose? that's kinda stupid...and why would they put him in as a red sox, he made all his major achievements as a yankee.

I'm glad you don't boo Roger. He just doesn't deserve that. I don't get it!

Brian Damage ~

On his "Center Stage", Roger said that if he wasn't to go to the HOF as a Yankee, he wasn't going at all. He's allowed to choose, and he's made up his mind. Would YOU want to go to the HOF wearing the hat of a team whose fans BOO YOU EVERY TIME YOU COME TO THEIR STADIUM? I sure wouldn't.

Yeah the Hall now chooses which team you go in as. It was just instituted this year. It happened because Wade Boggs was offering his Hall of Fame hat to the highest bidder. Dave Winfield did the same thing a couple of years earlier and went in as a Padre. The Hall stepped in and took the player's rights away. For instance, this year Gary Carter wanted to go into the HOF as a NY Met, but the Hall turned him down and made him go in as an Expo because they felt that is where he played the majority of his career. Roger Clemens does not have a choice anymore.

I think Roger Clemens should be allowed into the Hall of Fame as a Yankee. His best years were there, and he's made it clear that's where his heart is, he's retiring from there, so why deny him what he wants.
Also, the Red Sox/Yankee rivalry is probably the biggest one in baseball, so it would be particulary cruel to Roger to deny him Yankee status in the Hall of Fame.

Ooh, Janice, I totally agree! Forcing Roger into the HOF wearing a Boston hat is probably the worst thing you could do to the poor guy! Give him a break!

why would the hof choose the red sox though? i mean he won the world series as a yankee, he did the best of his career as a yankee. it wouldn't make any sense at all if he went in as a red sox.

I understand where you guys are coming from, but the majority of his 300+ wins came as a Red Sock. I hope he gets in the Hall as whatever he wants, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Easy there. I'm not bashing Boston. I'm from Boston and a proud member of Red Sox Nation.
I just think Roger should be allowed into the Hall of Fame as a Yankee because that's what he wants.

Thanks for filling me in, Brian, about the new 'politics' going on in The Hall of Fame. I'm curious how that came about. I don't like it and I don't think it is "In the best interest of Baseball". A guy plays in the bigs long enough and well enough to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, he ought to have the final say what team he wants to share the glory with. Some back-room boardroom three-piece huffetywhoop shouldn't be allowed to pull those strings and make that decision over the head of the player.

Janice ~

All I agreed with was that Roger should be able to go in with whatever team he wants. The HOF is a prestigious thing, and it should make the player going in very happy. If they send The Rocket in with Boston, they'd be making him the OPPOSITE of happy!

Shelly and Brian Damage ~

I agree with you, too. You may be fans of Boston, but I think we all agree that the inductee should choose who he goes in with.

yea, it's supposed to be an honor to be inducted into the hof, it's not an honor if you're put in with a team that you don't really like. i can't believe i'm going to say this but...poor roger. i feel bad for the guy, it's no fair that he doesn't get to choose.

I don't think we're so lucky. The Twins are the hottest team since the All Star break. The A's lost Hudson so their pitching is a little weaker right now.
