For a while, I have been wondering about this. Tootie had always wanted to be an actress, and she did. Natalie always wanted to be a writer, and she did. Blair had wanted to attend law school, she took the exam, but in the end, she bought Eastland, which was really cool. But, what about Jo ? What had she always wanted to do ?

Jo never said..the last thing we saw her she was looking for an apartment with Rick...
I always wondered about that, too. All the other girls always spoke freely about their dreams and ambitions in life, but I don't think Jo really every said. I think she liked keeping personal stuff like that to herself...I may be wrong on that though. Although it did seem she enjoyed working at the shelter. Maybe she enjoyed helping people who were less fortunate like she herself grew up...Just a thought http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Jo: Things are NOT going well here. They're dragging your name through the mud...I think I'm gonna have to hit somebody.
Natalie: Who asked you to defend my honor?
Jo: I think I'm gonna have to hit you.

It always seemed that Natalie and Tootie always knew what they wanted to do. Later we found out that Blair wanted to take the LSAT and go to law school.
I remember one episode in season 6 where Jo was trying to make up her mind what she wanted to do but I'm not sure she ever decided. Later in a Season 7 or 8 episode she was contemplating taking an internsip with a big company but she passed on the interview to help a student when she was doing her student teaching. I always thought she would end up being a teacher or doing some type of computer job because she seemed comfortable around computers especially during the 'Love at first byte' episode.

On at least a few occasions Jo did mention that she thought that she might want to become a teacher. I don't know if she ever really had decided that (before she took the job at the shelter) but she had mentioned it a few times.

I look at it this way. Jo showed an interest for teaching and worked at the center. To me shw obviously wanted to make a difference in the lives of kids. I work with kids so I understand that well.

There was a brief time when she wanted to be a nun.Nuns can make a big difference in kids' lives.Take it from me.I'm a Catholic whose teachers in grades 1,3,4,6 and 8 were nuns.
