is it just me or does anyone else not like sam royer i always knew ann had werid taste in men but she still deserved someone better that was such a pompus jerk what a comedown this must have been for howard hessman after playing such a fun carhter like johnny fever i always though sam though he was so far above everybody including his own son he almost makes ed copper look loveable let me know if im right or not but he really got on my nervers

I did not like him as a husband for Ann Romano. For starters Howard Hesselman and Bonnie Franklin did not seem compatible. I thought her and Joseph Campanella were not myself. I thought her and Richard Masur were compatible.

My problem I had with Sam Royer was he came to the show when it was basically on its way out. I did not like his character because I find him not validating Ann's feelings nor issues. He always came back with something sarcastic or insulting towards her. A couple of episodes when she let him have it especially the one when she smacked him. I thought it was great.

Sam was kind of mean to Schneider, couldn't understand his role in the family but then again who lets the handyman have free access to their apartment all the time and lets him also serve as their mailman for some odd reason.
