5 in the ratings after the first season. What were the changes at the start of the 2nd season that led to cancellation? Was it

1. New Time Slot?
2. New Characters?
3. Characters being removed?
4. Competition from Another Show?

Hope one of you Jesse Fans can help me.

Actually it didn't really fail in the ratings in it's second season. It was in the top 20 in the second season. Who ever was in charge of NBC at that time was on a cancellation spree. I think it would still be in the top 20 if not for the cancellation.

My guess for the cancellation would be since it was a sitcom that came on after Friends on THURSDAY night, I guess the producers expected the show to finish in the top ten like all the other NBC Thursday night shows.

NBC didn't premote the show. all that well. it was "must see tv thursday friends" or whatever.

How many seasons would Jesse have been on the air if the show wasn't even cancelled in 2000?

I think it could have lasted at least 9 seasons if it wasn't cancelled. This show was so good but back when it was on NBC was a huge powerhouse networks and if you didn't do really good in the ratings they would cancel you. This would never happen now. They should have put it on after Will and Grace it would have survived their.

It boils down to that it didn't retain enough of the Friends lead-in.
