Hey! 'Joey' acts up with NBC spinoff
The baton has been passed. After nearly 18 months of on-again, off-again talks, NBC announced Thursday a 22-episode order for a "Friends" spinoff from Warner Bros. Television revolving around Matt LeBlanc's Joey Tribbiani character (HR 7/21). The series is set to debut in fall 2004 in the 8 p.m. Thursday slot that has long been home to "Friends," which is set to wrap its 10-season run in May. Scott Silveri and Shana Goldberg-Meehan, two young scribes who have grown up as writer-producers on "Friends" during the past seven seasons, have been tapped to pen the pilot for "Joey" and executive produce the series along with director/executive producer Kevin Bright. Also CBS's 75th Anniversary Special will air in November (2nd?).
The Dick Van Dyke Reunion and an Andy Griffith Retrospective with Andy Griffith, Don Knotts & Ron Howard will also air on CBS this Fall.
