I just got home from Color Guard practice, and I'm really upset. I just need to talk, you know? Here's what happened, I wanted to drive home because it's not to long from now that I turn 16. I haven't driven in about 2 and a half weeks, my Bug is a five speed, anyway back before I stopped driving (because my knee had a nasty gash and I couldn't change gears with out it hurting, then because we went on vacation) I had gotten to where I never killed out and could change gears smoothly. Well, I get in the car at school to head out and my ex comes out of the weight room. (my ex, and I WERE off and on for a few years, he cheated on me one of those times we were together and he asked me back out a few weeks ago and I kinda lead him on then dropped the bomb that NO I wouldn't go out with him as pay back though I did feel kinda bad about that until NOW) So, I start the car and start off and wouldn't you know I kill out right in front of him, I start again kill out, I start again and this time I go, he of course laughs angering me even further. So then I go to the front of the school where you pull out in the road which is up hill, so he sees me fixing to go and he follows us to the school watching me drive, anyway, he stops and watches me at the hill, I kill out 8 times, my dad gets mad and he drives. My EX laughs the whole time. UGGGGGHH!! I LOATHE him!!!! I MEAN LOATHE HIM!!!! UGGHH!!! Anyway, we get on the road and my dad pulls over to let me drive, I FINALLY start off correctly of course my EX doesn't see, and I'm glad because once I got on the road I tried to change from 2nd to 3rd only to hit 1st not once but 4 times with two cars behind me. It was completely MORTIFING!!! I finally got going and I drove home just fine. I'm soo upset, not only was I humiliated, but I obviously will NEVER learn to drive my car!! Oh crap this is such a Woe is Me post, oh well, I'm sorry I HAD to let it out. If my EX was on the road stuck in the rain, with a hurricane heading toward him, I'd leave him there better yet I'd shoot him in the leg so that he'd suffer a little while he get's killled by the winds and rains, maybe a pine needle would stab him, too. I dunno just something PAINFUL!!!!!!!

I hope you feel better tonight.

I want to tell you as well that in about 15 years when life is hard and you face things like eviction (despite having a job!) and stuff like that problems like this one above will seem to have been a breeze.

Trust me.

Unfortunately, most broken romances are not very friendly. Your driving will improve as you gain experience. Remember that for someone to humiliate you, you have to cooperate by feeling humiliated. Don't make it so easy for others to alter your opinion of yourself, particularly not over relatively harmless matters like driving skill. Don't let someone who is just trying to annoy you mess with your self-image. I hope you find a new boyfriend who you like better.

And that will treat you better!

(and Kudos for being able to drive a stick, I've never learned and have been driving for 17 years!)

I've done that before, and I know how embarrassing it is. If you need help with making your ex suffer, let me know. :D

That guy doesn't sound like a very nice person. You're lucky, my sister doesn't even get to drive, and she's 19! but there is a good reason for that; she sucks at driving. I will post the story if you want to hear it.

Don't work about the stick! I've had lots of friends who learned how to drive stick and it took them a while to learn, well, without killing it. Practice makes perfect. I am sure you'll learn how to drive soon!!

And about the guy. Don't worry about him. He's immature. And he's probably went through things were it took him hard to learn. So him laughing at you is being a hypocrite. You're going to find better guys who care and who won't laugh at you at things like that. They'll support you through and through.

What a jerk of an ex you have! Well, I know why he felt the need to do that--probably because he's liked you recently but you shot him down. Which he deserved! Don't even worry about the driving incident. You didn't look like a fool. But your ex sure did for his imaturity. And then him asking you out again weeks ago? What a loser.

Learning to drive a stick is the pits. I do not reccommend them to new drivers. But you'll definitely learn how to do it perfectly, like others here said. I remember riding along during some of my best friend's driving lessons, and she was the worst stick shifter! Really bad. She sure didn't think she would get good at it, but she did, and now she drives really well! You'll be the same I know. Stick learners always have stories like yours. Too bad your ex is so hung up on you, he felt the need to make a show.

I'm sorry to hear of your embarrassing incident. Your ex sounds like a creep. Good riddance to him. Things will look up for you. :)

Woah, Maegan I am soo sorry to hear about all of this. My internet hasn't been working very well lately, and I havent been able to post here.

Don't worry about driving, you'll learn..If it makes you feel any better, listen to what I did.

I was coming home from church and I could NOT keep the car on my side of the road. I kept drifting back and forth, like I was drunk or something, and my mother was getting aggrivated at me. Well, I get to the end of the road that the school is on, to pull out to go towards Winfield....and do you know what I did? There was a car coming toward us, but it was in the other lane so I figured I would be okay if I pulled out. WRONG. My windsheild had this glaze over it, and when the car came towards me I was blinded. I pulled out INTO THE LANE WHERE THE CAR WAS COMING! I was inches from getting the side of my car knocked off.

And don't worry about "him" I know what it's like to have a creep for an ex, so ur not alone. You don't need him. And I find it hilarious that you led him on like that! You know me, though, I tend to believe in payback...hehe. Just wait, you'll get ur chance for payback. You can take him.

1. Knowing me, I probably would have jumped out of the car and beaten the crap out of the guy. Even with my dad there!

2. Stick Shifts are so hard to learn. When my dad had one, I tried learning on it and I killed it all the damn time. Then he got rid of it and I never have learned. But with more practice, one day it'll become easy. :)

Thanks everyone, I feel a whole lot better now, but I definitely still LOATHE him, just not my car as much.

Don't feel bad, I've been driving for years and never learned to drive a stick. I tried twice, the first time my dad kept getting mad and the second time a friend kept laughing, so I never learned. You did a lot better than me!

Urgh! That sucks. I betcha that boy can't drive a stick for the life of him anyway. ;)

I've been driving for five years and still haven't learned stick. So you're already a more accomplished driver than me :) And it sure sounds like a good thing you got rid of this guy. Bravo!

 No kidding! That's the rotten thing about jeering or laughing in someones face. Usually the critic can't do a lick better!

The guy a loser!
