View Full Version : how many people....
treky 07-24-2003, 04:26 PM think "Cheers" could still be made today? If not, why not? I think it probably could, although they would have to cut down on the number of sex jokes.
And also, put a rail on those steps!! That used to bother me when the show was on, and it still does. I'm still waiting to see someone (probably Norm, after he's had a few beers) walk up or down them, and fall flat on their face!!!
DianeChambers87 07-24-2003, 04:33 PM Completely!! And I wouldn't change one thing! I think that Cheers was a bit ahead of it's time, at least when it started. OMG I would love a break from all of this "Must see tv" crap that's on now...lol..not mentioning any shows :cough: :cough: friends :cough: :cough: lol ;)
DianeChambers87 07-24-2003, 04:35 PM Then again though...I like the fact that it's in the 80s....ok I would rather Be living in the 80s and watching Cheers....lol Steve remember the time machine! lol
Why the hell not. I wish it would come back. haha, oh yes the time machine. "Why can't it be the 1980's".:)
p.s. Maria I got my tv guide today. The one with Wendt Ted and Shelley on the cover. The story on Wendt is soo good.:)
MaydayMalonesGirl 07-24-2003, 06:04 PM it would be funny to see the cheers gang and see what there up to.. they should make a spin off hey thats a pretty good idea...lol
onefortheroad 07-24-2003, 07:35 PM i wish it were the 80s too, you should see my bedroom, its filled with pop culture crap from the 80s like posters, movies, toys...
Brian Damage 07-24-2003, 08:11 PM Yes
PaulaAbdulFan 07-24-2003, 08:35 PM yep! and I  the 80's!!
sinatrastar 07-24-2003, 08:52 PM Cut down on the sex jokes?? It would have to include many more blatant ones. The shows of today are twice as raunchy. I think the later shows could make it, but not the earlier ones.
wizard12 07-24-2003, 08:55 PM Yup.

MaydayMalonesGirl 07-24-2003, 09:45 PM >(about the 80's I dunno i wasn't alive then soo i dunno)
sam here cheers child!
CarJackSnyder 07-30-2003, 01:56 PM >(about the 80's I dunno i wasn't alive then soo i dunno)
sam here. well actually i was born in 1989 but still i wasnt old enough to know.
sinatrastar 07-30-2003, 05:06 PM You people are too young to be Cheers fans if you were not alive to watch the show when it originally aired!
uhmmm. If Torie was born in 1989, she would have been alive when the show on. Cheers didnt air its finale until 1993. And yes we are fans. What about all the people who like "I love lucy" and "Leave it to Beaver", both shows from the 50's. Just cause you werent alive then doesnt mean anything.
DianeChambers87 07-30-2003, 06:27 PM Exactly, nobody has the ability to control when they are born!
And if anything being born after (I was born in '87) Cheers ended or in the later years proves us bigger fans! It means we are teenagers who discovered Cheers and loved it for the show it is and not because it is "must see tv"! Plus who made you (sinatrastar) alpha and omega of deciding who is old enough to appreciate or watch something?
CheersChild4life 07-30-2003, 06:55 PM You go girl wooo
sinatrastar 07-30-2003, 07:19 PM For Norm aka George Wendt Forever - where did all those crazy quotes come from?? They sound unNorm like
wizard12 07-30-2003, 07:22 PM sinatrastar, first off we can be fans of a show for reruns. Second, they don't have to be from Cheers you know...

That is an asinine statement to make. You mean to tell me you can't be a fan of a show unless you see it when it originally aired? That is sooo dumb. I guess I'm not a real fan of The Honeymooners because I wasn't born in the 50's.

The first one is from a movie called "Welcome to Planet Earth". The other 2 are from "The Prime Gig". Wendt had a vulgar role in that film.

Exactly what CheersChild4life said
U GO GIRL!!!!!
onefortheroad 07-30-2003, 09:42 PM i was born in 1987, when cheers was in the middle of it's run i might add, and now it's my favorite show, ive loved it ever since i can remember watching it, i grew up with cheers. i remember i had to go to bed before cheers came on in it's original run, so i'd sneak out of my room and watch the beginning theme song. after a few years it was off the air, i heard the theme song somewhere and i remembered what it was from, just in time for my local station to get cheers. N@N got it soon after and i was hooked, the rest is history.
sinatrastar 07-30-2003, 11:55 PM I stand corrected. You folks are hillariously into attacking any dumb remarks I put up in here. :smash: That was a dumb statement but I assumed you all were older.
Thanks for the info Norm - please dont drink and drive. The only non cheers show I recall for Norm was when he worked at that car factory.
MaydayMalonesGirl 07-30-2003, 11:59 PM You people are too young to be Cheers fans if you were not alive to watch the show when it originally aired!
oh please! age has absolutely nothing to do with anything! its not your age that matters... if you like the show than you can be a fan !! thats a stupid comment right there. anyways who are you to tell someone what they can and cant like?? ur not god sry to tell ya... :cuss:
CheersChild4life 07-31-2003, 12:00 AM I'm not one to be mean but that was a stupid remark you made about age and everything I started watch at like ten and I got the humor age really doesn't matter if you get the jokes

Well said. If you like a particular tv show or movie, that's all that matters. I was born in the early 70s, but The Honeymooners is one of my favorites. Anyway, it's actually nice to see a younger generation talking about and appreciating shows like Cheers and Happy Days, Three's Company.
sinatrastar 07-31-2003, 12:29 AM Are you talking about the movie "Gung Ho" or "The George Wendt Show"?
It was an actual movie - Gung Ho doesnt sound familiar but if that is the one where the Japanese company buys the American factory that is it. Norm must have been drunk when he was swearing like that.
eah thats Gung Ho. No actually Wendt cusses alot. In real life he is the most down to earth person, just a slob like everyone else.
