Has anyone seen the 1980-81 spinoff "Sanford"? It had Redd Foxx and the supporting characters from S&S but not Lamont. I believe it ran 2 seasons.

Well then, SOLOMON, if your out there, what was this sitcom like? I know it bombed after two seasons but I'd like to know why.

Thanks,
Chris.

i think it died because nobody gave it a chance.
i watched and loved it. sure it wasn't the same. but it was still a good show.
a bad time slot kills anything. saturdays at 9:00? love boat was still big then wasn't it? it should have been in the middle of two big shows during the week instead of leading off the hour on saturdays.

This is Solomon aka Sitcom Analyzer, Yes I have seen Sanford and it's just as funny as Sanford and Son. The cast of Sanford has Fred, Rollo, and occasional appearances from Aunt Esther, and Grady. Fred new partner in the junk business instead of Lamont was a overweight Hillbillie who knew Lamont. And the FAT Jokes were extremely funny. I have about 10 episodes of Sanford. If you are interested email at solomond@webtv.net for trade/sell.

I recently bought this series from a collector which contained every episode except a few.

I really enjoyed it. My favorite episode was the one Aunt Esther appeared. That particular show was worth the price I paid for it, my gut hurt I laughed so hurt.

The Fat Guy who took Lamont's place was a load of laughs as well. Fred had fat jokes on every episode. One episode Cal trys to go on a diet and Fred ends up chaining the refrigerator up and putting a alarm on it.

No, I don't think it was as good as Sanford and Son, but it definately was worth watching. I think people didn't give it a chance.

I think it would have been better if he had teamed up with Grady or Bubba or both. I had a hard time with Fred hooking up with a hillbilly and a hillbilly in Watts period.

Sanford was a very funny show. Maybe not as good as the original but close.
