It's true though everyone in MI calls it pop I think. That's the main reason I still say it even though I don't live in MI anymore.

Soda.

LOL, I don't get where calling everything "coke" comes from. I don't know if all of you that call everything "coke" live down south, but I have heard it's a "southern thing." My relatives down south call it coke. A friend of mine who used to live in the south calls everything coke. I had a pepsi on my desk one time and she goes, "Can I have some of your coke?" If coke is a REAL name for a soda, how is EVERYTHING coke?

Yeah! Just like the southerners call it "coke" the new Englanders call it "soda." I noticed that when I friend of mine, who was from NY, called it soda, and most people in school thought that was different. Here in WA it seems to be "pop" so when I call it "soda" I seem to be in the minority.

When I lived in California, they called it Soda out there, when I would call it Pop they were like "HUH?" they didn't know what I was talking about until I said SodaPop.

I finally got in the habit of calling it Soda and when I moved back here to Ohio, I would call it Soda, it drove my family crazy, I now call it Pop
