View Full Version : I hope I'm wrong about this
losthighway 07-22-2003, 09:18 PM I was taking a look at the scheduling for the episodes on Nick that are coming up, and according to what I have seen the block of episodes on the 31st will conclude with an episode called "Raging Bull" which is the last episode in the series before the one hour series finale that was called "Final Approach".
Then on Saturday August 2nd, they are going to run "Legacy" which is the series premiere episode way back from 1990.
I don't mind that because I would like to see the very first episode again, but I am REALLY going to be disappointed if they skip over "Final Approach". I haven't seen that episode since it originally ran on NBC and I thought it was a great wrap up for the show and I want to see it again.
Krista2882 07-22-2003, 09:29 PM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! They can't skip the very last episode!!!!
Freakzilla 07-23-2003, 01:33 AM With N@N's history of skipping episodes, it's very likely they would skip the last episode. And it is a great finale. Joe and Brian finding the money and Helen getting her dream of playing in an orchestra in Vienna. Plus, these episodes feature the original opening credits.
pilotguy 07-23-2003, 02:32 AM Hoo BOY, do I hope that you're wrong about this TOO, but knowing NICK, you're probably not....and I've really been looking forward to that finale too!
Since we'll be soon be sent back in time to the first season of "WINGS", perhaps we should start preparing ourselves for those early years, when things were different....
Remember how Helen used to refuse to date pilots?
Remember Helen's simpler, less glamourous look?
Remember the "dumber" Lowell?
Remember how Joe and Brian used to fight over women (especially Helen)?
Remember how Roy used to talk about his DEAD wife? Remember how we all BELIEVED that he was a widower?
Remember when Faye had blonde instead of white hair?
Remember the opening title music and scenes of Nantucket?
These are just SOME of the early "Wings Things" that we'll soon be seeing again...but I REALLY wanted to see that two-part finale FIRST! :( :(
peter may 07-23-2003, 06:12 AM The schedulers as Nick are such a bunch on F*****g wa*nkers!
why do they bother doing that, it would happen here in the UK!
pilotguy 07-23-2003, 07:53 AM If this is true about NICK skipping over the two-part series finale, then we HAVE to complain about this!
Unlike NICK'S whacko reasoning in moving "Wings" to terrible time slots, there is NO rational reason why they shouldn't show the finale episodes.
Let's find out for sure what the finale scheduling situation is, and if it's true that NICK is not planning on running those last two episodes, then we really need to contact them and make some noise!
I'm not trying to be a trouble-maker here, but having a nice wrap-up to an 8-season series is a pretty big deal...at least to us die-hard "Wings" fans!
losthighway 07-23-2003, 11:11 AM I'll keep checking to see if there are updates about this. There are a couple web sites I've checked that have TV scheduling and I have a TIVO system that lets me see what a schedule is supposed to be like a few weeks in advance.
Right now all these sources indicate "Final Approach" will not be on. However, sometimes Nick at Nite does make a schedule change. We'll keep our fingers crossed that happens here, because it doesn't make any sense to not show the series finale. What's the point in showing the episodes in order if you do that? They must realize there are folks out there, such as Pilotguy that are watching the show for the first time and would like to see the conclusion. Not to mention the fact that there are many folks such as myself, that may have seen the finale once, but want to see it again!

EXACTLY....I HAVE to see the series finale for myself! I keep hearing rumors that the series ended with Helen leaving Joe and running off to Vienna with Lewis Blanchard!
:D
Krista2882 07-23-2003, 11:43 AM lol pilotguy.
but yeah, I'm a first-time viewer of the series also, so I HAVE to see the series finale! I'll be so disappointed if they don't show it this time. Well, I guess it's not too bad to have to wait a few months before I get to see it, if they don't show it this time. but still- that's a long time!! poo!
peter may 07-23-2003, 11:48 AM I just got a reply back from Nick@Nite regarding as to why they are skipping by the series finale:
this is what they wrote:
[Most contracts for shows acquired by Nick-at-Nite limit the number of times that episodes can air in a specific period of time. End of series episodes are often shown as part of a special block and, thus, are often skipped during the "regular rotation" of the show.]
Krista2882 07-23-2003, 11:53 AM so does that mean that they showed it during the marathon, so that's why they're not showing it this time, or does that mean that they maybe someday are planning on showing it possibly during some kind of special block of episodes, so they're never going to show it during regular rotation???

But I thought we WERE in a special block with this "summer block party" thing??
I understand how there is a limit to the number of times a particular episode can run, but why not run it at least the first time during the rotation, THEN you can skip over it during the next time period. That would make sense to me....this does not! Now I'm mad.
Once again, all I can say is my Kingdom for Wings on DVD. <sigh>
peter may 07-23-2003, 12:04 PM My guess is that they will air in the next run becasue they do always air the series finale episodes of Cosby and Cheers. What is strange though, you'd think Nick would have equal air time runs for each episode?? They never did air the finale in the marathon.
I'm so glad I am getting this series all on DVD now so I wont have to bother with Nick's crazy scheduling in the future.
I'm still waiting to see the last 3 seasons of Coach
Nick is great for showing this but I wish they'd air it properly.

That sounds like a crazy crock of double-talk B.S. that makes NO sense at all!
Oh well, we can just throw THIS latest decision on the pile of "slaps in the face" from NICK....
"Viewer Appreciation"....Yeah, RIGHT!

Sometimes they have a Series Finale Marathon. But I don't think N@N has done that in years. I know TV Land has themed blocks on the weekends. I hope they show the last episodes, because I lost my copy of them.
spunkygirl 07-24-2003, 12:21 AM That bites is all I can say. It doesn't surprise me though. I was looking forward to seeing the Finale again. You can't watch a series without the finale.
In some fairness, I have seen other networks do that with shows, there are times networks won't show the pilot for a series after they have gone through the series once.
Disney does the same with Boy Meets World they won't show some episodes for a long time because of this factor. *ugh* :(
Adamantium 07-24-2003, 04:10 PM Does anyone know what episode they're showing after "Legacy". I think, maybe they're skipping the two-part finale so they can show them back to back the next night. I could be wrong, but it would make sense ... which come to think of it, maybe N@N won't do that.

As of right now, unless there is a change to the schedule, nick at nite will be running 'Legacy' on Saturday the 2nd, then 'Around the World in 80 Years' on the 3rd and then the next block on the 7th will pick up with the rest of the very first season episodes......so in other words, unless they change the schedule we won't be seeing 'Final Approach' for at least a few months.
