Several people here have commented on how Antonio changed during the last two seasons of "Wings"...how he became a pathetic, bitter loser.
I noticed that myself in several episodes, but now I'm also noticing that there are still a lot of FUNNY "Antonio Moments" in these later episodes.
I think that a lot of that miserable bitterness came from his recent rejection by Casey. Brian had previously gone through a similar "down period" when Alex left him....Let's face, the men of "Wings" do NOT handle rejection very well!
Anyway, now that Antonio seems to have gotten over Casey, and now that the stupid "Edna The Big-Face Girl" nonsense seems to be history, Antonio is acting more like his old self, and he's giving us some very funny bits:
I loved the show where he was listening to those self-help tapes on how to be aggressive: "I DEMAND that this plane go back up!".
For pure visual laughs, you can't beat the show where Antonio was struggling in pain with those $300 too-tight shoes!
The "Heist Before Christmas" show gave us a miserable Antonio...but it was a FUNNY kind of miserable. (That's the one where he gave everyone super-expensive gifts, and nobody gave HIM anything. Antonio's sarcastic and disgusted comments were HILARIOUS: "What is WITH you people? It's Christmas...You GIVE, you GET....apparently I'm the only one who got the memo!")
And last night's show showed Antonio at his BEST....that was the one where he thought that his uncle had dated Gina Lollabrigita, and he was acting like a super-suave Italian ladies' man, kissing womens' hands and saying: "Ciao, Baby!"
Yes, like many of you, I had grown to dislike the miserable, pathetic Antonio that we were seeing for awhile, but it looks like the FUNNY Antonio is back....at least in a good number of later episodes!
