Raven wonders if 'thicky-thick' a liability

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- It's hard to believe that Raven -- formerly known as Raven-Symone -- was once the adorable Olivia on The Cosby Show.

Now the 17-year-old Atlanta native is all grown up -- and out.

"I am sooooo thicky-thick," Raven says of her curvaceous frame. "I'm thicker than Beyonce."

While Raven is proud of her figure, she admits it could be a hindrance in a town obsessed with straw-thin actresses.

"I'm not your normal girl that you see on television," she says during the press tour for new fall shows here. "I'm not 95 pounds. I like to eat, sit down and marinate in my food. If that happens to marinate to my thighs or my stomach, I'm still there. I know I'm not overly whatever... but when you look at the movies and you look at all the girls who are hot now, I wonder if I could've been in those movies if I was skinny."

As the star of That's So Raven, the popular Disney Channel series, Raven is enjoying her time back in the spotlight. In addition to her own show, often the network's highest rated, she's also starring in The Cheetah Girls, an upcoming Disney Channel film about four New York City teens who dream to take the world by storm with their music group.

The movie holds a special place in Raven's heart because it features her first on-screen kiss.

"It took me three hours," she says, giggling. "I was scared. PDA -- public display of affection is not in my vocabulary. Each time I did it, I just pecked him and pecked him and (the director) was like, 'Just do it!' "

Another thing Raven, who plans to attend culinary school, has been able to do is remain sane -- and employed. That's a claim not every former child star can make. How'd she do it?

"I didn't get big very fast and I stayed grounded," she says. "My parents helped me with that. I was one of the lucky ones, I guess."

It's good to see that it doesn't bother her that much that hollywood is so obsessed with really thin actresses. I think she's the perfect size and if she wants to lose like 5 pounds that's good for her but no more. Raven is beautiful the way she is. Raven has alot of talent. I have been a fan since her days on the Cosby show. I was amazed at how well someone that young could act. She blew the Olsen twins(who also started young) out of the water.

Today I would say she is far more entertaining than most of the hollywood actress out there. Most of them can't act worth a damn.

All Raven needs to do is know when to back away from the table.

Hey I am not a fan of that All Raven needs to do is know when to back away from the table. I don't know if anybody notices,but she is not overweight,and I stick by that statement,Raven's refusal to diet is admirable,but she does excercise she's recently spoken of learning karate and plus she dances,I am a big eater but manage to stay in shape and it's a fact that eating is important,I agree with her I marinate in my food too,but as long as you burn that off by moving around you're all good!Having confidence like that will take you far,being straw-thin can be a hindrance also,I don't know if i took your quote too far but I just felt like venting about it hope you don't mind :)

I'm not a big fan of those super skinny actresses/singers. I don't really see why people crave them and think they have to be that way to get noticed. I'm a naturally skinny person. Being 2 lbs at birth it has left me being from 96-101lb at different times and the chance to get to eat whatever you wish is nice, I LOOOVE food. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I wish I was fatter. Raven is soo pretty and she has the perfect size no matter what anyone says. I would love to be her size any day. Before I finish I got one thing to say to girls who are trying to kill themselves to be thin: Sometimes the media will say you have to be thin to be pretty, its not true. Food is everyones best friend! Don't starve yourselves silly, its not worth it. Be happy with what you have. Do what Raven does, stay confident and happy. She ain't trying to please nobody but herself! You should do the same and don't change for nobody!:wave:

I totally agree with you j. She is unbelievable tha way she is and doesn't have 2 lose weight. I do tha same, marinate in my food, but I excercise 2. She sounds very confident in herself and that is real admirable 2 me. And, technically, that wasn't her first on-screen kiss. She would occasionally give Bill Cosby a peck on the cheek in TCS. But it's her first big kiss. I would wanna be the lucky S.O.B. that gets 2 kiss her!:happyface She is real thick and I loove girls that is thick. Especially Raven. Beyonce is good lookin 2 but can't compete wit Rae's looks. She also sounds very smart and sweet. I LOVE U RAVEN!!!!:love: :heart: :eyes:

I think she's just bigged boned...honestly I know it's a cliche. But I think that even if she starved herself she would never be the little skinny girl

It's funny you said that because she was skinny or slim in my opinion,and I just fell in love with her even more in dr dolittle 2,she just is an unbelievable female,too bad there isn't more of her to share:D

This is JMO, i think Raven is the perfect size, shes not to fat, not to thin. Shes beautiful...She does not have to lose, or gain a pound.

Raven looks hot, I LOVE LOVE THICK GIRLS always have always will, who wants a girl that looks like a little boy yuck, hollyhell has a buch of shinny little women that are built like boys that is nasty.

I second that,it seems like they're doin alot more promoting for this movieplus they're making a franchise out of it!Before you know Raven will be everywhere again,good news for us huh:D

Very Awesome. I think a sequel would be cool, but it depends how the movie ends. Disney almost never makes sequels. Except 4 Zenon. And Rae should've been in tha second one. O and Horse Sence had a sequel 2.

She was filming Cheetah Girls and That's so Raven so ofcourse she's not gonna over-work herself.She needs to get back on the big-screen,I wonder what they are gonna do when TSR ends:confused:
