1. Do pickles help you lose weight? Are they considered a negative calorie food?

2. It is rumored that pickles can cause cancer. Is this true?

I'm just curious. :D

I remember one of my sixth grade teachers saying that pickles can kill you. From what I remember I think she meant having too many of them can kill you but too much of anything can kill if not seriously hurt you.

Some info on the pickle:

Pickle - general term for fruits or vegetables preserved in vinegar or brine, usually with spices or sugar or both. Dill pickles are cucumbers matured in a brine of dill leaves and seed heads. Sweet pickles are made from various fruits or vegetables—e.g., tomatoes, cucumbers, peaches, or plums—with sugar added. Pickles have limited nutritional value and are often used as appetizers. Before the invention of refrigeration they served as a sort of winter substitute for salads. Cucumbers, the most commonly pickled of all vegetables, are placed underripe in 10% brine, allowed to undergo a lactic acid fermentation, soaked in hot water to remove excess salt, and then covered with vinegar and other ingredients.

So since cucumbers have very little nutritional value, I would guess a pickle has little value as well.

Screw that, those Vlasic sandwich stacker pickles kick ass!

Is it true that eating pickles will make your hair curly? My mom always says that and I don't know if you could really say my hair is that curly.

I don't think so. I eat pickles all the time and my hair isn't anywhere close to curly.

Good to see pickles getting some press.
:)
Always need it on a hamburger and on the side of any sandwich.

I think I like garlic pickles best.

Now let's show some love for mustard.
Any hot mustard lovers?

The only way that pickles could kill you would be because of the high salt content. Anyone with high blood pressure or heart problems should stay away from salt. That's the only thing that I can think of. I had never heard about killer pickles before!

Oh! I just thought of another possible thing! If a person is very allergic to mold they should not eat pickles or anything else made with vinegar(which is fermented). I just learned that today as a matter of fact!:D
