Family Ties? I saw that the Cosby Show edged out Family Ties for the number one spot two years in a row and managed to out do Family every year in the ratings. So just want to ask people who watched Family Ties a lot to tell me why they think the show couldn't compete with the Cosby Show.

Yeah i asked because i noticed FT and TCS was neck and neck two seasons in a row. Cosby Show was 1 and Family Ties was 2.

The question should be what made The Cosby Show appealing at all.

Something about the Cosby Show just had some huge appeal to people. I can't figure it out. I've mentioned before on the boards that it is some "phenomenon." Lol. I don't even like it that much and I even will watch it in reruns. What gives?

During both shows' original runs, I watched Family Ties every week, and I rarely watched the Cosby Show. I don't know why more people were tuning into the Cosby Show than of Family Ties.

cosby show AND bill cosby do not appeal to me, They both stink!

Family Ties was the better show. I watched the show long before the Cosby Show ever aired. When NBC moved Family Ties to Sunday in 1987 I refused to watch A Different World which had replaced Family Ties on Thusday nights. I later started to watch A Different World but not until Lisa Bonet left the series.:happyface :wave: :rolleyes:

Why did you watch a Different World after Denise left the series?

There really wasn't nothing to watch at that time but A Different World. The previous year I had started to watch The Charmings and Sledge Hammer. They had both got canceled. In my opinion A Different World got better when the show began to focus on Whitley and Dwayne more. The show also began to tackle more serious topics than they did during the first season. I felt that the show earned its timeslot more during the second season.:talk: :eek: :lol:
