My dog, Sandy, hasn't been doing too well ever since Saturday. She's been running a fever and hasn't been eating very much. Plus, she's been breathing harder and she's very lethargic. So today, seeing that she hasn't improved much, my mom called the vet's office to see if they could squeeze Sandy in today or tomorrow. The woman on the other end of the phone said they couldn't fit her in until the middle of next week. When my mom described my dog's symptoms, the woman said "You may want to have that checked out, it sounds like something she could die from." But they still wouldn't check out my dog! According to my mom, this woman sounded like she just wanted to get off the phone. How can someone that works at a vet's office say that it sounds like your dog could die and then blow it off?!

Obviously I'm going to have to find another vet, and fast.

That's the right solution - fire them.

You guys don't know of an emergency vet. hospital?Cause we have a few here,and it really doesn't sound like something you should procrastinate about...

OMG!!! I hope Sandy is ok. Meangya, some secretary she is. What- was she too busy filing her nails?! My dog, Nutmeg wasnt feeling too well for a few days and it made me nervous, but I think she just caught something. And this lady is only a secretary so how does she know what the dog can and cannot die from? Meangya does she read vetinary medical books during lunch hour? If I were you and were really nervous about Sandy, Id just bring her down myself and demand they look at her. If this secretary is anywhat accurate, then how could they have the nerve to say they couldnt squeeze her in?! Its like going to the ER because you're going to have a baby. Oh Im sorry! We're a little busy... come back in 4 days!:rolleyes:

I think that receptionist ought to get in another line of work! It sounds like she has seen one-too-many animals die and she just doesn't care anymore!

My dog Lady sometimes gets a little ill, usually from eating weeds growing in the garden or grass- usually she's only sick a couple of times and ok the next day (she was sick a while last week) but once she wasn't herself all week, lying around all day and not eating. I get worried real easily (my dog got microchipped, and her new id tag came and I've lost it- so I'm going crazy to find a replacement from the company sending them)- I'm like the Dr Doolittle of the street- there's like 4 dogs in the kitchen almost every morning. I really hope Sandy (my uncle also has a lovely dog called Sandy) is ok- though while you're making your decisions on bringing her for treatment- you could try those 'self diagnosis' sites- there'll probably be one about for animals. Maybe there should be one of those 'sticky' threads posted with helpsites and helpnumbers so anyone with a problem or anyone who knows of a site to help people can post it here.
My dog needs to go back real soon for more vaccination injections-she hates the vets.

What a freakin idiot that secretary is! She needs to be fired. I'm really sorry about Sandy. I hope she gets better soon.:(

Sorry to hear about your doggie! That secretary should not be working that job. She obviously doesn't care about what she's doing. I would love to work in a vet's office, because I love taking care of animals. I'd be better than whoever that chick was you were talking to. I hope Sandy gets better and you get her to a vet somewhere.
