Yes, "One of these days" we'll get the classic 39 Honeymooners episodes on DVD.

But now, thanks to Paramount, we now know that it's going to be one of the four Tuesdays during October 2003!

Paramount Home Entertainment hasn't given any specifics, but in a mailing which lists their upcoming releases for October, they state "The Honeymooners - the original TV series".

No word yet if these are individual releases, or will be a box set. It might be (like I Love Lucy has been) retail releases of the same DVDs which have been available for a while to members of the Columbia House club system.

We don't have any details yet, but we wanted to let you know they're coming. As soon as more information becomes available, POW! We'll have it for you right here.

This is great news! Now someone should get busy and start the ball rolling on releasing all the other Gleason shows as well. Let's see his 50's variety series and the 60's "American Scene Magazine" surface somewhere......either in syndication, or better yet on DVD!!

I can't wait I am going to buy them all.

About a month ago, we posted this news item (http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=596) about an upcoming October release for The Honeymooners, from the so-called "classic 39 episodes". At the time we didn't know what the release would consist of, much less what the exact release date was.

This is GREAT news and from the looks of it, its a box set. you can pre order this item on Amazon right now it's only $37.49 I paid over $200.00 to buy them from Columbia House.. BANGZOOM!

I read that the DVD's will contain the original openings and closings. I wonder if that's just in supplemental material OR will every episode be restored with them? Would be great to also see the Buick commercials advertising the 1956 models.

Amazon has the release date at November 4. This is great that they are releasing all of them at the same time! That is less than a dollar an episode!
