Rock Hudson and William Holden. Because I like them. :)

Van Johnson was good too.

I still have yet to see the Bob Crane episode of The Lucy Show. :(

I think that the BEST star guest was Lucille Ball herself in the Here's Lucy episode entitled, "Lucy Carter Meets Lucille Ball", #141. That was one of the very last Lucy episodes.

Bob Hope on ILL. And Bill Holden, as it was so good to see him being funny for a change.

Bill Holden and Bob Hope on I Love Lucy with Ernie Ford bringing up the rear. You're right Mickey, Hope was never better. Tallulah and Danny Thomas on the Lucy Desi comedy hour. Dean Martin on The Lucy show and Vivian Vance as a frequent guest star on Here's Lucy. And Audrey Meadows on Life with Lucy!

Well I wouldn't say that Bob Hope was 'never better' than when he did ILL, but he was damn good! He and Lucy sparked off each other nicely, and he was pretty smooth with Desi too. And I love that version of Thanks For The Memory at the end, especially the giggles over Desi singing his verse in Spanish.

I misread your comment and you were talking about Holden. I never thought Hope was any good as an actor especially in those lame sketches on his shows, but on I Love Lucy, he was sensational. He was a great monologist and stand up comic but his acting left much to be desired, however with Lucy, in Facts of Life and on that ep of Lucy, he proved he could do it right.

Bob Hope was never meant to be a great actor though, was he. He was just there to deliver the lines! He and Crosby together on the Road movies especially - that was never about acting; just quick fire delivery and chemistry. And it worked.

I personally love Bob Hope movies. They are all so light hearted. I especially like the ones he did w/ Bing.

The Lemondrop Kid was good, and it had good 'ol Bill Frawley;)

Yes, Hope wa the best stand up comedian there ever was, and his performances in films with Crosby and Ball also were superb!
