Warner Home Video is set to release Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman on video and DVD on October 21st, 2003.

According to the company, the all-new, animated feature-length movie features the voice talents of Kelly Ripa (Live! With Regis and Kelly), Kyra Sedgwick (Born on the Fourth of July) and Hector Elizondo (The Princess Diaries). Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the DVD is loaded with powerful special features including an exclusive-to-DVD original Batman animated short, Chase Me, as well as a behind-the-scenes production featurette, filmmaker and animator commentaries, a look at creating a scene and more.

Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman will premiere at the San Diego Comicon, where the creative team of the movie will participate in a round table discussion. The creative team of Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman discusses the film and the development of the new character of Batwoman. Participants in the round table include Alan Burnett, Supervising Producer; Kevin Conroy, the Voice of Batman; Curt Geda, Producer and Director; and Michael Reaves, Screenwriter.

The event will happen at 3:00pm on July 18th in the Green Room adjacent to Room 6A, Upper Level San Diego Convention Center.

Even though it is a cartoon movie, I am looking forward to getting it. I love it when they focus women as heros or villains. They kind of wore out men as superheros/bad guys imo.

I agree. And this is jmo so everybody take it how you want. It's just, well, if this were a live action film, the bad luck from the last couple of Batman movies might wear off on it. When you watch the Batman films, it's like a scale in a way. Your own opinion is what matters, but people just weren't kind to some of the Batman movies. The first kind of got on my nerves (talking about Keaton's Batman now, not West's Batman). Kim Basinger (sp?) screaming throughout the whole film just doesn't set right for me. That's basically what I remember about the first Batman movie. Batman Returns was good, actually. You still had Keaton, you had Michelle and you had Danny on as Catwoman and Penguin, and they were awesome. I'd def. rank 2 as my favorite Batman film from the 90s. Batman 3 was off. I just didn't like Kilmer as Batman/Bruce Wayne. But I will give credit where credit is due, they did pick a great Robin. Not too big of a fan of Chris O'Donnell, but he did a good job. Now we get to the last Batman movie, bad is the only way I can describe it. Clooney, love him on Facts of Life, but I just didn't really like him as Batman, either. Though, he was much better than Kilmer. Now I could really state my opinions on the 4th film, but um, the last time I said anything about the 4th film to anybody they got a good laugh out of what I said. It's not board material, so I'm not posting too much about it. lol

With this Batwoman film, they are taking it in a whole new direction. We aren't getting the Hollywood It Chicks. You could have Sally Struthers up there as the voice of Batwoman and nobody'd give a damn. Voice is what matters here.

And I got way off topic, didn't I? I'll be damn. Well, with your superheroes and the villians, they did wear it out. There are so many guy superheros/villians out there, it's just nice to see a woman featured. Just do like a little tally of how many heroes/villains you got, most are male, right? Very few female heroes/villians. And I'd really like to know why. Oh boy, here we go again off topic. But, I'm a chick and I like seeing strong chicks whether the chick is a hero or a villian. I guess Hollywood assumes all girls (no matter how old you are) assume all girls never abandon the little Barbie Girl inside. Why, we don't want to see strong chicks. We're just sitting over here fine and dandy, watching all the chicks sitting around twirling their hair around their finger and acting like totally ditzes. I'm not happy with that, and I'm sure a lot of girls aren't happy with that. I want something different and nobody in Hollywood will get off their ass and do something good. It's up to cartoons now. And I'll bet you 10 bucks this cartoon movie is way better than anything Hollywood could come up with. Just my bet there.

I agree. Women aren't helpless humans who need strong men to save them. Women can kick ass and not just by pulling hair and scratching each other. I say get more women up there kicking butt.

Bantam Doubleday Publishing has released the cover art for the novelization to Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman.

The paperback, which will be released in October, is written by Louise Simonson. The novelization will carry a cover price of $4.99 and is 196 pages in length. The synopsis for Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, provided by Bantam Doubleday Publishing, is as follows:

"Exhibiting serious disregard for human life, a mysterious Batwoman swoops from the sky and destroys a truck transporting a shipment of illegal, high-tech weapons. But before Batman and Robin can catch her, she escapes into the night. Who is the Batwoman? Three suspects emerge - all of whom have their own reasons for wanting to don the outfit. Batman must solve the mystery and convince Batwoman that they are on the same team. Before she hurts someone - or herself."

Before Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman comes to DVD and video in October 2003, it will premiere at the San Diego Comicon on July 18th, 2003.

I heard about this the other day.

I always look forward to the new animated Batman flicks.

I wish they could do the live action movies as well as they do the animated series.

"When a new vigilante in the guise of a Batwoman appears in Gotham City, she is so ruthless and destructive that Batman feels compelled to stop her. As he tries to uncover her secret identity, he comes to realize that she has targeted a criminal consortium headed by Penguin, who is trying desperately to export a cache of high tech arms out of Gotham City.

"Eventually, Batman comes to suspect that Batwoman is Kathy Duquesne, the spoiled daughter of criminal kingpin Carleton Duquesne, who is Penguin's partner.
