Blair and Tad: Chapter 2

It was the week before Christmas and all through out my house, I wasn't stirring, I was stuck in bed. Yeah I know it doen't rhyme, but that's not the point. The point is my OB/GYN put me on bed rest untill the twins were born. And I'll admit haveing Tad wait on me hand and foot for the first week was great. But, after awhile I got annoying. Tad would only let me get out of bed to go to the bathroom. I was stuck in my bedroom for a month! I was so looking forward to this week. Mrs. G conviced Sue Ann, Molly, Nancy, & Cindy to join the rest of us to celebrate Christmas and the birth of my little girls. Anyway, I was sitting in my bed, fipping threw a magazine I had read when Tad, came in.

"Good Morning, Angel," he said with a smile on his face.

"Hmmp" I grunted.

"What's wrong?"

"Tad, sweetheart, daring, please let me out of my bedroom!"

"Dear, you know what the doctor said..."

"I know what she said, but come on Tad your being unresonable! It's one week till Christmas! And I haven't been shopping in weeks! Bloomingdale's called last week, they wanted to know if I was still alive!"

"You did all of your shopping online and through catalogs this year to save you strees."

"I know but it's not the same. Please Tad..." I said with my best pout.

Tad smiled, "Well, I guess a few hours outside wouldn't hurt. But your not going shopping. The stores will be crowed. And all that strees wouldn't be good for you or the babies"

"I promise, I won't go shoping. I'll call the girls and we'll go over to Mrs. G's and we'll talk and stuff. OK?"

"OK," said Tad. Then we kissed.

Well, a short time later I was sitting in Mrs. Garrett's living room, even though she had been traveling for years she keep the house here in Peekskill. And it looks pretty much the same as it did when she left for Africa. Anyway, there we were the 4 Musketters +2, the two being Tisha and Jamie. Ever since Dorothy and Tisha moved back "home" Tisha and Jamie have been best friends.

Tisha walked in from the kitchen and said, "Here's your tea, Aunt Blair."

"Thank you, Tisha," I said as I took the cup of tea.

"So how are you doing, Blair?" asked Dorothy.

"I'm good. I just can't wait for this to be over."

"Tell me about it," said Jo. "When I had Jamie, in that last week every little pain I had I though was a contraction."

"I'm the same way," I said, "But, How will I know when I have my first contraction?"

"You'll know," said Dororthy and Jo in unison.

"I can't belive I waited 38 years for this, and I just want it to be over," I said.

"And, when they are all grown up you'll wish they were back inside," said Mrs. Garrett, as she was carrying a tray of cocoa for everyone else.

"Mmm," I said, "I wish I could have some."

"Blair, Tad would kill us if we let you have some cocoa," said Natalie.

"Besides, when your mom was pregant with Baliey, you wouldn't let her have some of Mrs. G's christmas cookies," said Jo.

"I know, I know," I said.

Just then there was a knock on the door...

Mrs. Garrett went over to the door and open it and in walked Nancy & Roger, with their 16-year old daughter Martha, and their 15-year old son Roger, Jr. As you might know Nancy was pregnant with Martha before they got married. Nancy also fufiled her dream of becoming a psychologist, and she has a very nice private practice in Chicago and Roger is architect.

"Merry Christmas, Mrs. Garrett," said Nancy, as she gave Mrs. G a big hug, "You look great."

"Thank you," said Mrs. G, then she looked over at Roger and said, "And how have you been Roger?"

"Good, Mrs. Garrett."

Then Mrs. G looked over at Martha and said, "Nancy, I swear, every time I see Martha she start to look more and more like you."

Martha smiled and said, "Thank you, Mrs. Garrett."

"And, Roger Jr. is growing more and more hansome."

Roger Jr. smiled and said, "Thank you, Mrs. Garrett."

Then, the rest of the girls stood up and walked over to them and exchanged hugs and hellos, then Nancy walked over to the chair I was sitting in kneeled down and said, "Merry Christmas, Blair."

"Merry Christmas, Nancy," I said.

"How are you doing, Blair?"

"Good."

"That's good to here. I bet you can't wait for them to be born."

"More than you will ever know."

Just then the doorbell rang, Mrs. G opened the door and Molly came in. She works as a photographer for National Geograhphic. She's not married but she's had a boyfriend for about 5 years now.


Soon afer Molly arived Cindy came with her husband Steve, her son Tucker, and her daughers, Haven and Clancy. Cindy really suprised me, she met Steve at her church and she left her modeling and acting carrer behind to be come a stay-at-home mom, she even homeschools them! And now she's an author. She's written a book on parenting, her autobiography, and a book on homeschooling. I hope I can be as good a mother as she is.

Finally, Sue Ann arived. Sue Ann told us the truth about herself at Nancy's wedding. And, we were a little upset then, but we've gotten over it now. Sue Ann really is a Vice President now. But, I think she works too hard, she's not married, and she doesn't have a boyfriend.

The mothers all sent their kids upstairs to play, and the rest of us sat around and talked. I looked at my friends and smiled. The 8 of us, all together, for Christmas. Then, I looked down at my large stomach, patted it and smiled. I was finally going to be a mother. In my heart I knew this was going to be the best Christmas any of us would remember.

After awhile, Tad, Robert, Harper, and Rick arived and took Roger and Steve with them to get the tree. After they left, Mrs. G and everyone else went upstairs to get the decorations. I stayed downstairs and drank my tea. A short time later, Cindy came down the stairs.

"So how is it going up there?" I asked.

"Good," she said, as she sat down on the couch.

"I would ask you how your doing but I can read you weekly journal entries on you website."

"Yeah, but their is one thing I havn't told anybody yet."

"What's that?"

"I'm pregnant."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"I'm so happy for you, Cindy."

"Thanks, Me and Steve have wanted another baby for years after we had Clancy. I don't know how the kids will take it."

"I'm sure they will be thrilled."

"I hope so. I better go back upstairs before I'm missed. Remember, Blair don't tell anyone."

"Don't worry, Cindy, your secret is safe with me."

Cindy went back upstairs and a little while later Molly came down carrying a box, she set it down and said, "How are you feeling, Blair?"

"I'm OK. How about you?"

"I'm feeling great. Blair, I have great news. I'm getting married!"

"That is great news! So, Dave finally popped the question."

"Yeah, he even got down on one knee and everything. It was so romantic."

"Well, congratulations, Molly."

"Thanks, Blair. Don't tell any of the other's I want to tell them myself."

"Sure, No problem."

"Thanks, Blair," said Molly, then she went upstairs. And, as Molly went back up the stairs, Sue Ann was coming down the stairs. Sue Ann set her box down and said, "Blair, I have something to tell you but it is a big secret. You can't tell anyone."

"What is it?"

"I'm in love."

"Well, that's great. It's about time you found someone. What's the guy's name."

"Her name is Stephanie."

"HER name is Stephanie?"

"Yes, Blair... I'm a lesbian."

"Your a lesbian?" I asked with a shocked looked on my face.

"Yes, Me and Stephanie have been together for about 10 years now, " said Sue Ann.

"How did you meet?"

"We meet at work, we started hanging out, going out with a bunch of others. We were best friends."

"Then one night, we were at her place, talking, and drinking wine. And, she told me that she was a lesbian. I was a little stunned. And, I told her that I never kissed another woman before. So we decied to kiss. And, I liked it. About a year latter, we moved it together."

"Well, I'm happy that you have someone, Sue Ann."

"Thanks, Blair," said Sue Ann, as she gave me a hug. "Remember, don't tell anyone." Sue Ann then went back up the stairs.

I sat there stunned. I couldn't belive it, Sue Ann was a lesbian. And as I was sitting there. The doorbell rang...

great! So...who's at the door?!

I tried to get up out of the chair. But, being 9 months pregnant made that difficult. I finally got up and walked over to the door. I opened it and there were Beverly Ann, Andy and Pippa.

Andy & Pippa have been married for about 4 years now. They where friends through school, and in high school they started to fall in love. And, once they graduated from college they got married. They live in Califorina, Andy is a doctor, and Pippa is a lawyer.

"Beverly Ann, Andy, Pippa!" I said with a stunned look on my face.

"Merry Christmas," they said as they came in.

"Mrs. Garrett said you guys wouldn't be able to make it."

"We weren't" said Beverly Ann.

"But, mine and Pippa's schedule cleared up and we we're able to get away for a few days," said Andy.

"We'll Mrs. G and the rest of the girls will be happy to see you," I said.

"Where is everyone?" asked Pippa.

"Well, the girls are all upstairs with Mrs. G getting the decorations and the men went to get the tree."

"What are you doing standing up?" asked Andy, as he helped me back to my chair "You should be resting."

"Oh, Andy, you sound just like my doctor," I said. Just then Mrs. G and the rest of the girls came down carrying boxes. They set the boxes down said hello and hug Beverly Ann, Andy, and Pippa. Soon, the men arrived with the tree, they set it up and we started to decorate it. I did help a little but when my feet started to hurt I sat down on the couch and watched as the kids help their mothers and fathers decorate the tree. Tad sat next to me and we snuggled.

"Isn't it such a nice scene?" I asked Tad.

"It sure is," he said as he put his hand on my very large belly, "And, in a few years, our kids will be able to help us decorate the Christmas tree."

"Yeah," I said with a smile, "I love you, Tad."

"I love you too, Blair," we kissed, just then I felt a sharp pain...

fun!:lol: Can't wait for more!

"Ooo," I said as I winced in pain.

Tad looked at me and said, "Blair, are you OK?"

"I think I just had a contraction."

"We'll I better time it."

I didn't have another contraction all day, that night, I was sitting at my vanity brushing my hair, and I had another contraction. I looked at the clock, it was 9:00pm. My contractions were about 7 hours part. Tad and I went to bed, and I was woken up at 1:00am with another contrcation, my contractions were now about 4 hours apart. I should have told Tad, but I was too tired. So I drifted back off to sleep. At 3:00am, I had another contraction and another at 4, 4:30, 4:45, and 4:55, at that point I started to wake Tad up. I started to shake him, "Tad, Tad, wake up!"

"Hmm, what is it?" he said in a groggy voice.

"Tad, I think it's time."

"What?! How far apart are your contracations?"

"10 minutes."

"10 minutes?! Why didn't you wake me up sooner?!"

"I wanted to let you rest."

"We'll we better get going! I'll load the car, you call the doctor!" Tad jumped out of bed and started to get dressed.

I picked up the phone and started to dial the doctor's number, "Hello, Dr. Ruddy? This is Blair Warner-Warner... 10 minutes... Yes, he's loading the car right now... OK we'll be there as soon as possible. Good-bye." Then I hung up the phone.

Tad finshed loading the car, and came back upstairs, "Are you ready?"

"As ready as I'll ever be," Tad helped me out of bed and down the stairs to the car. And we headed to the hospital.

When we arived, I was taken to my room and the nurse helped me put my gown on, while Tad brought the luggage in. When Tad finshed bringing my 7 suitcases in, the nurse said, "Mrs. Warner-Warner, you know your only going to be here for a couple of days?"

"Yes, I know. That's about two days worth."

Tad set the bags down and asked, "How are you doing, Angel?"

"Good, my contractions are staying at about 10 minutes apart."

"OK, I'll go call everyone."

Tad left, the nurse looked at me and said, "Is this the first birth for you and your husband, ma'am?"

"Yes, it is."

"Really? Your husband seems so calm. I thought that this might not be a new experience for him."

"No. He's just great under pressure. Today, is an anniversary for us."

"Oh yeah? 14 years ago we meet at a Christmas party & 13 years ago he proposed to me."

"It seems like Christmas Eve is a very important day for your family."

"It is and I wouldn't have it any other way."

Soon, everyone was there at the hospital. Tad called our parents and they where going to be

coming later. After awhile my contractions slowed to about 30 minutes apart, but I stayed at the

hosptial because Dr. Ruddy thought I could give birth at any time. During the day, different

people came in and sat and talked with me.

At about 11:00 pm my contractions started to get closer and closer apart and my water broke. Dr.

Ruddy said I could have 6 people in the delivery room. I knew who I wanted, Tad, my Mom, Mrs.

Garret, Jo, Tootie, & Natalie. Once they where in the room, Dr. Ruddy checked me to see if I was

at 10 centimeters, and I was. So at every contraction, I started to push, it hurt so much.

"Come on Blair, Push," Said Tad.

"SHUT UP, TAD! YOU DID THIS TO ME! DON'T YOU EVER COME NEAR ME AGAIN!" I yelled, as I pushed,

when I stop I looked at him and said, "I'm sorry, Tad. I didn't mean it. I'm in just so much

pain."

"I know, honey, I know," said Tad as he wiped my forehead.

Dr. Ruddy, looked out from under the sheet that was covering me from the waist down, and "OK.

Blair, I can see the head of the first one. Whenever your ready, push."

"OK," I said, panting trying to catch my breath, and on the next contraction I push.

Then Dr. Ruddy said, "OK, Blair, your doing good, just one more push."

Just then I had another contraction, and I pushed, Dr. Ruddy took the baby out, and said, "It's a

girl." Then she handed the baby to the nurse, Dr. Ruddy cleaned out the baby's windpipe and she

started to cry, Dr. Ruddy handed Tad some scissors, and asked, "Would you like to cut the umbilical cord, Dad?"

Tad smiled, and said, "I would." Tad cut it and then the doctor tied it and handed the baby to the nurse who put her in a bassinet, and asked, "What is her name going to be?"

I said, "Joanna Marie Warner," then I had another contraction.

"Look like somebody else is ready to come out and meet everyone," said Dr. Ruddy as she stuck her head back under the sheet. Soon, Then Dr. Ruddy said, "OK, Blair, your doing excellent, just one more push."

"I can't do it," I said, "I can't do it."

"You can do it Blair," Jo said.

I looked at Jo. And I thought back to when we first met, she was tough. Then I though to when Jo gave birth to Jamie. and I thought to myself, "If Jo can do it, so can I." Just then I had another contraction, and I pushed, Dr. Ruddy took the baby out, and said, "It's a

girl." Then she handed the baby to the nurse, Dr. Ruddy cleaned out the baby's windpipe and she

started to cry, Dr. Ruddy handed Tad some scissors, and asked, "Would you like to cut the umbilical cord, Dad?"

Tad cut it and then the doctor tied it and handed the baby to the nurse who put her in a bassinet, and asked, "What is her name going to be?"

Tad said, "Christina Eve Warner."

I couldn't belive it was over, I was now a mother. Everyone was crying, even Jo. I was so happy. Joanna was 6 lbs. 5 oz. and 21 inches long, and was born at 11:58pm, December 24, 2003. Christina was 6 lbs. 2 oz. and 20 inches long and was born at 12:02 am, December 25, 2003. It was the best Christmas ever.
