View Full Version : N@N "Rumors..."

OK... I keep hearing people say that they have heard that "N@N is only going to air TFOL two times...." or that "N@N is only going to show it for two years...."

My question is: Where does this information come from?? I mean, I highly doubt that a multi-million dollar cable network would just throw a show on the air for a few months, and then drop it. The show is going to be on for awhile, I guarantee it. Do not worry if you don't get a certain episode taped, because I'm positive it will be on again... and probably again... and probably again after that.

I know everyone here loves the show, but N@N has to consider it's entire audience. I don't think a show has been made "back-to-back" after its initial run since MTM, and that was 3 years or so ago. N@N has to keep attracting people, because some people will watch a series entire "run" on N@N (say, TFOL), and then they won't watch anymore, since they've seen all the episodes. So, N@N has to try to retain its audience by offering new programs, new times, etc.

I agree with many of many of you -- They SHOULD keep TFOL back-to-back, air the "sensitive" episodes, and allow the whole episode to air (without cuts for commercials). We're doing all that we can do, by emailing the network with our thoughts and opinions.

The thing I hope people on this message board are NOT doing is spreading rumors, which get blown out of proportion faster than balloon. If someone wants to say "N@N is going out of business in six months," then please inform the rest of us where this information came from. The rumors lead to people shooting off ideas, which makes people think different things, and then the rumors are off the charts. This not only goes for N@N, but also the coming reunion movie.

I didn't mean to bitch about all that, but with the number of messages that appear on this board, it's hard to get back to what is truth and what is rumor. Please, everyone keep posting. But just make sure that what say can be backed up.

Thanks -- Jim

Well thought out post, Jim. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif

I actually have a deep background in broadcasting and as a result, I probably look at programming changes a little bit different than the rest of you. Frankly, I find going down to only one episode a better choice on N@N's part. It will in the end keep the interest of the audience up. Without going deep into theory on the subject, let's just say that it is in N@N's best interest to keep their schedule "fresh".

As far as the rumors, if N@N's past programming choices are any indication, there is a good chance that this show may wind up over on TVLand after a couple of years. At that point, letter writing campaigns become much more important.

coily --

Thanks for the support. I just felt the need to say something because it's so hard to find out what's rumor and truth when diving into several hundred posts. Perhaps some people will read it, and be a little more cautious about what they say.

Nick has only been airing FOL since September and they are already starting to scr@w around with the "Facts" schedule. I believe we need to let em know our feelings now with the first schedule change because it may be too late a year from now when they decide to only air Facts every 4th Saturday at midnight on TVLand.

I e-mailed NAN to ask about the Fol rumors, and I guess I got the wrong address. I used postmaster@tvland.com, but I got a reply saying that it doesn't work. So, for anyone who wants to e-mail NAN, here's the correct address: postmasterNAN@nickonline.com. I'll post a message as sson as I get a reply from them!

I wonder the same thing. N@N has gone down heel over in the past 2-4 yrs. They used to air shows like FOL, I Dream of Jeanie, Happy Days, I Love Lucy, Laverne and Shirley, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and more all in one night at decent times. Whatever happened to that network I used to watch so faithfully...?

<sigh> I remember the good ol' days of Nick-at-Nite. I used to watch all of those shows... And I remember how every New Year's Eve, they had that countdown with Casey Kasem...my sister and I would stay up all night watching it...quality TV...quality time... <sigh> What happened?
