In honor of the 30th anniversary of "Match Game '73," GSN plans to air a special MATCH GAME MARATHON on Monday, July 28 from 9:00 AM to Midnight. Hosted by game show legend Gene Rayburn, "Match Game '73" premiered on CBS in 1973 as a revised version of "The Match Game" (NBC, 1962-1969) and became the number-one daytime television show within months. Among the regular panelists was the now famous trio of Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, Richard Dawson and Betty White. Highlights of the 30 marathon episodes include the premiere episode; the first show with Somers, Reilly and White; an appearance by Burt Reynolds; a New Year's Eve show for 1977; Jack Klugman running wild on the set; Jenny Jones and Kirstie Alley as contestants before they were celebrities and one with the entire cast of "The Carol Burnett Show." These historical, all-around hilarious favorite episodes will remind viewers why "Match Game" continues to delight viewers of all ages.

"Match Game" the '73 edition I watched it since last year. I like Gene Rayburn as the host. But I like to know that anyone in GSN land know the game very well. It starts like from "Tattletales" ("Match Game" edition) "My mother propose to me, we were in the BLANK! My response was "On the set of 'Full House'!" That what it was. I would like to catch it on TV soon.

I think the article is wrong on one thing, though -- it is my understanding that the Match Game marathon is an all-day marathon -- meaning, from 9AM to 4AM, nineteen hours.

The 19 hour/38 episode format has been confirmed by a multiple enough pool of sources, that it is quite safe to say that the PR is wrong (They're off by 4 hours...a 30-show thon is 15 hours)

They're also reusing the 19 hour format again for Twenty-One in Sept. Maybe these all day long marathons will become the rule at GSN, as opposed to those dinky 3 hour-5 show marathons (heck, the August WL marathon in 4 hours)
