Clair Huxtable. Maybe it was the acting skills of Phyilicia Rashad. It was something about that character that was very UNUSUAL.

No one give me any slack for this, because it's just my opinion, but Lucy Ricardo.

My definition of a good mother does not mean a woman who constantly leaves her son with a babysitter so she can go off in pursuit of stupid, fruitless schemes.

I kinda agree.... she was never with her baby. She's still one of the greatest TV characters in history though

Here is the worse sitcom mom award:
Carla Tortelli, Cheers. Very bad example as a mom. I need to say no more. Anyone who watches Cheers would see it for themselves.

Lucy wasn't the Mother of the Year, but she wasn't as bad as Peg Bundy or Clair Huxtable.

The Worst Sitcom Mother Award of All Time goes to..............[/QUOTE]

Without a doubt, Maude Findley from the tv series Maude. She was the worst in my opinion because she made the decision to have an abortion. It seemed like killing an innocent life was not as important as say politics in her views of things.

I have to agree with whoever said Carla.

I am sick of you putting Maude down. Maude was old during the pregnancy, what if the baby would have had health problems. She wanted what was best for the child, she didn't want the child to suffer.

I'll have to cast the third vote (so far!) for Peg Bundy. :barf:

Hey Carla Maria Victoria Angelina Teresa Appollonia Luzupone Tortelli LeBec was alot of things, but one thing she wasn't was a bad mother. She worked her but off for those kids, sure she made jokes about them, but they were always in good fun. This one time her ex-husband tried to take her oldest away from her, and he succeded. Carla was a complete wreck for a week when finally she demanded her kid back and she got him. Other times, in the Cheers begginning teasers, there was this one that Carla was meeting her little girls date for the evening and she ended up taking his picture and his finger prints, so she'd have some evidence if anything happened lol. One time her middle girl Sarafina called her because the other kids were teasing her because of her braces, and the conversation went something like this:

(carla picks up the phone)

Carla: Hello?

Carla: Sarafina?

Carla: No, I didn't recognize you because of your ugly voice.

Carla: No, no honey people aren't going to make fun of you.

Carla: Sweetheart your family are not people.

Carla: Ok, goodbye.

This was a sweet example of Carla being the mother!

Carla was a great mom!!

My vote for worst TV mother is....
Carol Brady, she didn't do anything, she didn't have a job, they had a maid, and it was always.... wait till your father gets home.

I have to go along with the Clair Huxtable bashing.

:p

I tell you what the "something" was there Solomon- she was an arrogant, never wrong (in her eyes), know-it-all.
She always acted like she was some gift to the world and her family.

That's a great example to set for your kids.

I agree with all the Peg Bundy votes. It's fairly difficult to top her as Worst Sitcom Mother but I have a feeling that my candidate would give her a good battle.

I would nominate as my pick Lois from "Malcolm In The Middle". Now there is The Mom From Hell! For one thing, she sends her oldest son Francis to military school and he's hardly been home since, yet she barely misses him. This is nothing compared to how she treats her other sons and now she's had another child on top of it all. God knows what she'll do to this poor kid.
