There is an urban legend about Arnold the Pig. When "Green Acres" ended its run, the cast and crew had a farewell barbecue. The main course was none other than Arnold roasted over an open fire. So the story goes, nobody on the set could stand Arnold because he was such a scene stealer, so this was their way of getting revenge.

This is mentioned in the "Hooterville Handbook." Actually there were at least 12 different pigs used to play Arnold over the series' run and they all lived out their lives on Frank Inn's farm after growing too large to play Arnold.

They were not barbecued by the cast.

Not only were there several pigs playing Arnold, but some were definitely females! Also, sometimes Arnold would mysteriously grow or shrink.

It is indeed false.

not true...in fact as the animals died they were cremated and kept in urns and when Mr Inn passed away the urns were buried with him per his request. I know Arnold and Benji were two that were buried with him.

I think the first Arnold was butchered, but the rest lived a happy long life. I love Arnold, Eva gabor referred to him as that dreadful pig, because he stole almost every scene he was in. Arnold saves Lisa and Oliver when they were trapped in the cellar, catches bank robbers, almost becomes a film star, but has a soft place in his heart for the horse, learns a second language woof woof and he also spoke French, Spanish and a little Japanese. Delivers newspapers, rides a bicycle, dances with his girlfriend, plays checkers and won 40 cents from Mr Kimble, participates in town meetings and does crossword puzzles. He could write his name, sent for mail order products, blushed in front of beautiful women.
