ok it's about play so if you don't want to read it, it's okay, but i just gotta vent!

someone said that play got a call from matthew knowles (their co-manager) said that columbia records is thinking of dropping play from their label because of low record sales. im like so frickin scared right now if it's true, i love play with all my heart and if this happens?!?! if it does happen i hope they get another label or something! it makes me sick thinking about it...

you people probably think im crazy, lol, but i get real emotional about stuff like play..and it makes me soo sick thinking if there was no more 'PLAY' no more anais faye rosie or anna..

ok..sorry..wasting thread space...:(..but im really upset.

...Sorry for the bad news, but a label has to stay fresh to keep things going well for the overall company. Try not to blame the label for the entire misfortune, you have to realize Play didn't have the quality to attract more listeners. Their fan-base and target audience is very limited.

Just hope that a new label will give them the chance to grow and mature a bit, I'm not denying that they have talent- but what they have right now isn't much to offer.

Just because a big label drops an act doesn't mean that's the end of their career. Recently, J Records has found success by picking up group/artists that have been dropped. J Records has given Tyrese (dropped from RCA,) Monica (dropped from Arista,) Luther Vandross, Busta Rhymes (dropped from Elektra,) and several others new-found success. Recently they have add Blaque to their line-up, they were also dropped from Columbia.

Don't worry, Play will find a new home. ;)

I think that Busta was dropped because of low-sales, and Monica left because she had problems with Arista's new management.

I'm very impressed by J Records. They are fairly new- yet they have had tremendous success. They have picked up several dropped acts, and turned them into new success. For example, after joining J Records Busta has had 3 new hits over a one-year period, "Make It Clap," "I Know What You Want," and "Gimme The Light (Remix.) Monica had a big comeback and debuted at number one with her new record, "After The Storm," and had a hit single, "So Gone."

J Records is also the home Annie Lennox, Ruben Studdard, Liza Minneli, Next, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, Wyclef-Jean, Tyrese, Rod Stewart, Luther Vandross, Mario, O-Town, and several others.
