Go with the 8 hour tapes in EP mode and pause during commercials, I can get 22 on one tape, it's the best.

All I can tell you is that you're recording in SP mode, check your remote for a "tape speed" option or something. Oh, and on some VCR's it's not called EP, it's called SLP so look for that too. One good thing though, your show playback quality will be a little better, but then again, it's going to take you like 50 tapes to get the series, which is a little out of hand.
I only have four episodes on each tape, but I have almost more than thirty tapes, I just wish I could get every uncut episode without commercials. If Columbia House ever comes out with FOL on video, I'll have wasted a lot of tapes.
TVaddict,
I saw in a previous topic that you are a film major-so maybe you could help me with this. I have 22 tapes where I have previously recorded 2 hour shows. Is there anyway to record over those shows and get 6 hours out of the tape? It will only let me record over the two hours I already have, so can I fix it and get 6 hours out of it? If you know how please let me know! Thanks!
Also, how do you get 8 hours out of a tape?
Thanks http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Answer to your first question: Yes, you can get 6 hours on the tapes over 2 hour shows. You just need to record at a different speed. On some VCR's it's called EP mode, others it's SLP. Whatever you had recorded on there before was in SP mode, better quality, but uses way more tape space.
Answer to your other question: You need to buy 8 hour tapes instead of 6 hour ones. There are even 9 hour tapes out there, but I just stick to the 8 hour multi-packs.
