Hey - what do your friends think of The Facts of Life ?? My best friend cannot stand the show ! She has only seen one episode, and that wasn't such a great one. She won't give The Facts of Life another chance !

My best friend says she can't stand it, but she can tolerate it, and laugh at an episode here and then. Some of my other friends make fun of me all the time that I watch the show, but they watch it too! Just like my parents, they think it's just a 'phase'.

My friends don't watch it either....
One of my friends used to watch it but know she thinks she's to old to watch it.
My parents hate it and want nothing to do with it

Back when I was a teenager during FOL original run on NBC I thought I was too 'mature' for it during most of its run and my friends and I didn't watch it. Now 15 years later I love it and most of my old friends would think I'm crazy! I guess I'm not too cool now to admit that I like FOL http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?

Jo: Beats me, Tootie.

I watched it religiously when it was originally on NBC until the last couple of seasons, because I also felt that I was too cool. Now I watch it with several friends who are all N@N junkies. My husband thinks I'm crazy though....

My two best friends absolutely HATE the show. If I say one thing about it, they tell me to shut up. They refuse to watch it. They're always telling me how dumb it is. Once, they even made a joke and compared it to Sesame Street.

I hooked a guy I know on FOL (I even call him Tootie), and the rest can deal with the show.

One of my best friends likes the show a lot (probably not as much as I do) we never watched it together, but when I came back after being away for like 3 months it just came up that we had both been watching it a lot. I wasn't surprised though, we seem to like all the same shows. And while I was away I got my roommate, who never owned a TV and claims to hate TV, interested in the show. She wasn't around much to watch it, but I caught her singing along to the theme song after a while. She just couldn't get enough of Natalie. And we used to make fun of Jo's bad 80's outfits. (post army jacket, into the time when she was wearing suits and ties, or those awful one-piece things like when they were in Ft. Lauderdale) Anyway, Not too sure about my other friends yet, haven't seen them in a while. I'll get them hooked soon enough.

My friends aren't too crazy about it and a few of them haven't even seen it. Of course they know about it though because I'm always talking about it!
My parents don't care for it either, saying it wasn't one of their favorites...they really just sorta brush it off and say that I'm only going through a "phase".
I LOVE it though!

Well, my friends think Im nuts for totally loving a show that last aired an original episode 13 years ago. O well, forget them!

One of my best friend's used to watch it on USA, and now she watches it occasionally. She likes it, it's just not one of her favorite shows. My other best friend loved it when it came on, but she goes to bed at 9:30 so rarely sees it. I need to let her borrow my tapes, lol... other than that, I really don't have any close friends that know what I watch. I live in a neighborhood full of ex-best friends who are now bitches who have become "too good for me"

My best friends has 'disowned' me. She cannot stand the show! Her exact words are, "How can you sit in front of the TV and watch people who act soooo STUPID?!?" Shoe obviously saw a really bad episode, or one of the "make-believe" ones!! LOL Her loss.

I guess I'm lucky. My friends who've seen the show all loved it. At first that got annoyed with me because we'd be sitting around then I'd scream for everyone to shut up because FOL was coming on and demanded silence until the end of the credits, but now I've got almost everybody hooked. My friends have excepted that if they're at my house (or even at their house) when FOL comes on if they don't want to be strangled, they sit and watch silently. My best friend's only seen the show a few times and 'doesn't have an opinion on it', but I say she's in denial. She loves it as much as me (Well... close to as much) and just can't admit it.

I work at a youth recieving center (where most of the kids are Juvinile deliquent types) and we do activities with them. I'm in charge of the cultural activities. One night we didn't have anything planned, (we couldn't leave because we didn't have enough staff there anyway...) I decided to teach the youth about the 80's to give them culture. We pegged our pants and rolled up our sleeves and watched two episodes of FOL. And some of the kids even liked it and asked me when it came on. So if these kids that are used to going to detention centers and being arrested can like it, then anyone can http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif.

I realized the last part of what I said, was a little confusing. I meant that anyone can become a fan.

Conversations with my friends usually go something like, "You will never believe what I watched last night! The Facts of Life!" That usually leads to a "Ohmigawd! Me too!" But then it's a big dose of nostalgia for us since we were the same age (as Blair and Jo) & doing the same stuff.

The spring break one is a particular hoot because they got *everything* so dead on. The clothes, the condo, the bar, the whole "gotta get a tan" mentality! Well, we didn't have a hurricane, but you get the idea. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif

Uuugh.... thanks for giving me yet another visual memory of my lack of fashion sense in the 80's..... God help us if 80's fashion ever retros.....

I have 2 friends who LOVE FOL too. One of them was slightly younger than me (he's 19, I'm 21) so he has memories of watching it in the 80's and the other one is slightly older than Kim Fields so he was a first-generation diehard. Some friends hate it, some friends like it, but only 2 of them watch it as much as I do. But I also made a friend who is my age just from the fact I have FOL in my AOL profile as my favorite show!!
