Is this a great film or what? Gene Hackman was perfect as Detective Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle. He won an oscar for the role, too. In fact, the film and the film's director won oscars, too. My favorite scene was the famous scene in which Doyle chased (via car) a train that a sniper boarded. Great film and that's just to say the least. :thumbsup:

I still haven't seen The French Connection. I gotta check that out. Gene Hackman is a great actor. What other well known actors are in that movie?

Roy Scheider from "Jaws" is in the movie but that's pretty much the only other good actor besides Gene Hackman.
