I grew up in the 80's, and I do know that fashions sometimes bordered on the weird, but did you know anyone that dressed like Denise Huxtable (the way she dressed in the first couple of years)...I think she was dressing that way to "find" herself, not necessarily following any fashion trends....

She had to be findin' herself, i wonder if that was something that she encouraged in her character or if it was something that the writers put in there( being so fashion aware)

I think like cutie does about this. I always thought Denise was in style in the first season. Not all high schoolers were dressing like that, but she was wearing latest trends. They were wild, but still trends. Then season 2 was wack. Her first her of college seemed normal from what I remember (but then we don't see her much anyways) but after that she got bizarre again. Very bizarre. No trends followed.
This clothing issue is one I've talked about before with how the Denise character didn't stay on track with how she used to be. Later on, her hair and attire was differently some representation of her needing to "find herself." It became part of the whole "free spirited" persona of hers. One that DID NOT exist the first season. She made one unusual change.

I thought that Denise had some cool clothes in the first season. It was cool, that she had all the new and latest 80's fashions in hte show
