View Full Version : Air Bud Movies - Have they gone too far???
theanswerman 07-04-2003, 10:39 PM who thinks that the air bud movies had gone to far. Ok, the first one was ok, a dog being able to play basketball but they just got stupider and stupider. Come on a dog that came play volleyball, what were these writers thinking when they were writing this?????
Swimfan85 07-04-2003, 10:53 PM yAH, ive seen the first 2 and lets leave it at that!
DarleneIllyria 07-04-2003, 11:47 PM Imo, I think they have. Didn't the original dog die a couple of years ago? I mean, I hate to be depressing, but when the main dog dies, maybe it's time to leave the movies alone.
Just because you have a hit on your hands, doesn't mean you have to crank new sequels out every year. jmo
Brandon 07-05-2003, 12:09 AM they're for kids.... they seem to enjoy them if they keep making them...
Sitcomwriter 07-06-2003, 01:38 AM My brother and I were discussing this the other night while watching "7th Inning Stretch" on TV.They should have just stopped after 3.It's the same thing with the Beethoven movies.
-*Leah*- 07-06-2003, 04:13 AM I think they are very annoying!
I have no problem with the Air Bud movies, they're harmless family fare.
Now if they could just get that dog to join NASCAR...
;)
automatic princess 07-06-2003, 08:40 AM Yes, they have. All of those other sports, I can see or have seen a dog do, but volleyball? C'mon.
onefortheroad 07-06-2003, 12:42 PM i'd like to see kickboxing, that would be a riot
~*Hannah_Lee*~ 07-07-2003, 01:48 AM Yeah, these Air Bud movies are starting to get like those "Land Before Time" movies.
Have you seen the commercial for this movie, where the dog "spikes" the ball? :rotflmao:
At least they never tried putting him on ice skates in a hockey movie. They would have lost all credibility.

This says it was considered
>>>Air Bud : The Big Puck
Air Bud : The Big Puck was a cancelled Air Bud movie that would have been released in 2010 or 2011. Not much evidence exists of this movie, even less than Aussie Rules. But in this movie it has Buddy playing hockey.<<<

And heck yeah they should have done it :hockey:
The closest we got is a chimpanzee named Jack playing hockey in MVP: Most Valuable Primate in 2000 by the same director of some of the Air Bud franchise. I guess that was a bit more realistic.

The complete movie is available for free on YouTube.
I originally thought this was the Matt Leblanc thing, but I was getting my sports playing monkeys mixed up.
Lassie probably had multiple Lassies die.
Also pretty sure one Benji wasn’t working consistently from 1974 to 2018.
Dude111 07-26-2025, 08:12 PM No not the same BENJI we love...
Hawkee 07-28-2025, 03:58 AM My mother saw Air Bud on TV and she thought it was nice but sad at the end but how Air Bud became a top movie franchise in the whole world is hard to figure out. But due to the success of Air Bud we saw Air Bud Golden Reciever and Air Bud III and I think in all honesty Disney wanted to cash in on the true story of Buddy the dog who had many talents. But as soon as the Air Bud trilogy was finished Disney started developing the Buddies series of straight to video movies and with movies such as Air Buddies Snow Buddies Space Buddies Santa Buddies and so on the Air Bud movie franchise has never stopped growing. And I think based on the success of Air Bud I think Disney knew that this movie was meant not only to attract adults and families but children and with the Buddies series Disney did just that. I also have never figured out why movies that have dogs in them seem to be big with kids? Because I also blame the popularity of the 1992 movie Beethoven for starting the Air Bud movies becoming so popular. Because for some reason movies with dogs are big with kids and I hope Disney does not do more with Air Bud like make a TV show for Disney+ in the future because they can ruin a popular movie franchise
Dude111 07-28-2025, 09:17 AM I wonder in how many AIR BUD movies is it the same dog??
