According to tvweek.com, Family Guy and Futurama are joining TBS Superstation. Here is the release:

TBS Picks Up 'Futurama' and 'The Family Guy'

Beginning Monday TBS will air episodes of "Futurama" and "The Family Guy" during a "special run" of the cult-favorite programs.

"Futurama and "The Family Guy" have proven to be stellar hits among adults 18 to 34 for the late-night Cartoon Network Adult Swim crowd, and we are confident they will prove to be equally popular during the afternoons on TBS Superstation," said Steve Koonin, executive VP and chief operating officer of TBS.

The episodes will air weekdays at 2 and 2:30 p.m.(ET).

I wonder what will happen to The Fresh Prince.

Hmm, interesting. I'll find out tomorrow if there are any other changes, like where Fresh Prince will end up. Also, to note, WTBS in Atlanta will keep Fresh Prince at 2 and 2:30 p.m., this will only be for the national TBS.

They have been airing various holiday episodes of the Fresh Prince lately. This is exactly what they did with A Different World before it left TBS. They aired holiday episodes for about two weeks and then dropped it. It sounds like Futurama and Family Guy are just for the summer according to the press release from TBS

I know they have Fresh Prince until Sept. 2004. I think this Adult Swim preview block will just be July-Sept, by October I guess it'll be gone. I'll find out a lot more by tomorrow. But I did find out that this will be the only change for the July 7 line-up.

Maybe this will help get all-new Family Guy episodes since I've seen them all before.

That's great news! When I first read it, I thought it was all a joke because it sounded so unbelievable. But wow. It'll air at 12 and 12:30PM here, right smack dab in the middle of the day. No more staying up til midnight (For a few months)just to see an episode. So as you can see, I'm stoked. New avatar time. :D:D:D

This is great, unexpected news. Now if TBS could add NewsRadio to their comedy block, that would be even better.

So you mean to tell me, he doesn't have a right to an opinion? He's got the right to like or dislike whatever he wants. Just like I'm guessing you don't like Buffy, but you can express your opinion about disliking the show. Eh, ain't opinions funny? Anyway, don't want it to look like I'm purposely trying to pick a fight or raise a little hell in here, because I'm not. I'm just stating my opinion above. So let me get back on topic. I've only saw one episode of Futurama, but I liked it. I might tune in and watch it on TBS, if I can catch it.

I hope FOX sees what they've done. They certainly won't bring it back, but I hope they're kicking themselves in the heads right now, and hard. The ratings are spectacular for CN, and hopefully they'll be good for TBS too, even if it's just a summer run.

I never found Family Guy funny. Sorry fans. I like Futurama, it is a great show.

:D Futurama and Family Guy putting the pre show on the non-stop comedy block, the best 5 hours on TV. My only concern is Fresh Price which pre entertained us quite nicely. If Fresh Prince was moved back to 1:30 this would all work out to being quite possibly the best lineup to ever see weekday afternoons. Futurama isn't what I thought it would be, the characters are a little too interesting, but can easily keeps me entertained until Family Guy who manages to not go 5 seconds without a joke that usually fit in a normal cartoon's best joke of the episode. Not to mention the final 8:00 movie that never fails to catch my intrest, adding 1 to my summer movie list extending from movies like The Breakfast Club to Dances With Wolves.

This is good news and I'll watch but not until "Ally Mcbeal" is done with it's 5th season on FX.

One of the great things about Futurama is that even though the characters are stereotypical (the dumb guy, the pretty, ditzy, rich girl, the crotchety old man, etc) they're different enough to make them unique. I mean, lots of shows have a rude, trash-talking character, but how many of those characters are cigar-smoking robots? How many TV babes have only one eye?

And of course, the humor is up-to-date and biting. It's great. :D

Yea, and I can guarantee you not one single show has ever had a humanoid lobster who wears sandals. :p It should have continued a lot longer than what it has. 72 episodes? I know it's still a lot of episodes, but it deserves more. The smart thing for FOX to do would have been to cancel the Simpsons about a season or two ago and give Futurama its slot. Of course that would never happen in this day and age of FOX. And King of the Hill over Futurama? Something doesn't add up. I think this picture is an accurate image of FOX's president these days. :D Good old Matt knows his stuff.
