View Full Version : The worst remakes in film
¤Graced¤ 07-01-2003, 05:47 PM What are some bad remakes that have been done in film today or from the past...
I heard Planet Of the Apes was pretty bad
This is a tv movie but Carrie on NBC now that was BAD and they changed the ending...
Mr. Stefani 07-01-2003, 05:52 PM I didn't think Planet Of The Apes was that bad. Maybe because I saw the remake before i did the orginal.
a really bad remake was The Truth About Charlie. that was the worst movie i've ever seen.
littleputz114 07-01-2003, 05:58 PM u mean a sequal or a remake of the original?

Remake of the original
Mr. Stefani 07-01-2003, 06:17 PM A remake that was better than the orginal was The Italian Job.
BrandonS 07-01-2003, 10:16 PM Bad remake:
JMO, but I feel that the new "Planet of the Apes" was pretty poor compared to the Charlton Heston one (although all of the sequels to the original were abysmal). The plot of the remake didn't even make sense.
Mediocre remakes:
"The Time Machine" was adequate, but not nearly as good as the old George Pal classic.
"The Nutty Professor" was decent, but the original was much better.
"Rat Race" was good, but not nearly as good as the original, "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World."
"Down to Earth" with Chris Rock, was okay, but not compared to the excellent "Heaven Can Wait," which was itself a remake of the excellent "Here Comes Mr. Jordan," which was a remake of a play, "Heaven Can Wait," which I didn't see.
onefortheroad 07-02-2003, 12:38 AM the psycho remake sucked

The Truth About Charlie is a remake of Charade, btw.
Crimson and Clover 07-02-2003, 12:54 AM i hated the Shining remake
laceyinthesky 07-02-2003, 02:25 AM It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World was a lot better than Ratrace.
Mr. Deeds is a terrible one, IMO.

onefortheroad 07-02-2003, 11:55 AM i heard the willard remake sucked i havent seen it though
GrapeJelly 07-02-2003, 11:59 AM The new version of "Lolita" didn't have the same darkly offbeat humor that the first "Lolita" had, imo.
webuster 07-02-2003, 02:06 PM I ahven't even seen the original Carrie- I heard the sequel's crap too. The book, which I HAVE read, is fantastic- it must be the hardest task in the world to adapt a stephen king book. Anyway- how the hell could they change the ending! It's unacceptable, even though the book is mainly made up of interviews and enquiries and new reports- it's gotta be a truly evil person to change the ending. The only reason i haven't seen the original is that my video rental store doesn't have it now (I think it used to- but at the time I remember it last being there was before I'd ever have set eyes on a horror book or film) and I don't wanna buy it, cos the book is very graphic, and graphic scenes in films put me off watching it much again...

I'm remembering back a few years, but my recollection is that the original "Carrie" isn't that hard to watch. I think you'd like it if you liked the book.

Mr.Deeds was great. Adam Sandler made it a bit different but overall, I think he did a great job and Winona Ryder did wonderful in it too
