We are probably going to have to turn off one of these features completely in order to keep the server running smoothly, so which would you prefer having?

If you don't have images in your signature, you would still be able to have a text signature.

Well being that I've never had an image in my siggy, I'd rather be able to post attachments.

Post Attatchments... but I hope we can keep both....

i vote the signature 1 cuz you can use the IMG tags instead of attaching a picture... if it aint got an address you can use an image host.

I choose siggys, cuz with attachments you have to keep typing in the address of the pic but with signatures you can just type it in once and not worry about it. But I turned my siggy off, so it doesn't really matter to me.

I dont know of any other site where I can upload pictures freely... this is where I do it and I love being able to do it.

Well since your sig is only shown once per page now.... its not like we'd miss them if we couldnt attatch pics... itd be like the old days here. :p

I really only attach images for use in my signature, so I'd much rather have images in my signature.

Signatures, because I hate boards that don't allow pics in sigs. Our sig defines us, therefore we should be able to keep them. Otherwise, you might as well have one of those free message boards. Where we don't even need screen names, jmo.

I'd rather have pictures in my sig. Now that I know how to put them there, I want to keep doing it.

If I were to have attachments turned on, I think the best option would have them display as links and then those who want to view them can click on it.. otherwise, you are basically forcing people to view the attachments. This way they have the choice of viewing them or not.

That's a good idea, but would there still be no signatures if you did that?

Can't people just turn image attachments off in their user control panel if they don't wanna view them?

I vote Sigs. I don't attach much. I'd rather have an image in my sig then be able to attach a picture.

Yeah...I barely remember what those old boards were like besides that there were no pictures in sigs. Wow....

Not with this current version I'm using, but when they release the latest version of vBulletin - that will be an option.

For now, you only have the option of turning off avatars and signatures.

I like that idea. That way, people can download the ones they want to see and don't have to look at the others that they don't want to see.

All I know is that I want a signature and I'd rather be able to upload a picture from my computer onto the signature, instead of posting the link of the pic like we do now, because sometimes it can be hard to find a picture on the internet that the page is JUST that picture and it's not too big. I don't know if that is possible or not, that's just what I prefer.

I'd rather be able to post attachments. I don't even view the signatures (I have them disabled), let alone have images of my own.

That really seems like the best way to go. I notice a lot of people - espeically on the "Cheers" board - post an attachment on every... single... post. It gets tiresome. I want to read people's thoughts on a particular topic, not see pictures of Shelley Long or George Wendt everytime I scroll down! If the attachments show up as links (a change I believe you made to the board for a short time last week), it's not as annoying.

I'd MUCH rather have Sigs. I'd like to have both, but if we have to choose I'll go with Sigs.

Anyways I really don't care. I would like sigs but it wouldn't really make a difference because I can't see the pics in most people's signatures. I'll make a separate thread about that to see if anybody can tell me something.

I guess I'll choose signatures because I have a place to upload my photos.

Well It's not like my vote is going to matter because I can already see a majority going on, but I would prefer to attach pictures. Like Caitlin said, I don't really know any other website where you can upload pictures for free. I can also resize them and have a link if I need it like that. I have an image in my signature right now, but it's not even important to me. I can take it out right now and I wouldn't be heartbroken. ;) Maybe if people followed the rules that were set up and had a MAX of TWO REASONABLY-SIZED PICTURES in their signature, we might not have this problem. Dial-Up user right here kids. :wave:

However, if the link system works, I'm all for it. I do think that the signature rule post should be put up as a sticky again though. For at least a while.

For those that want a place to upload images for free (and still have it be able to show up here), Mysty Eyes suggested http://mywebpage.netscape.com/ - it works pretty well. I voted for siggies, because that way if TJ turns off attachments, I can still upload my siggy images to that site and have it in my siggy. Whatever happens, I would still prefer to be able to see my siggy. :)

I guess I would rather post attachments. Because some people's siggys get so long and big that my computer can't load the page.

I'd rather keep the siggy's because to be honest with you I dont bother with attachments that much but I'd go CRAZY without seeing my Pics of Erik and everyoneelses Pics in their siggys I THINK IT WAS Holly who said our Siggys are what defines us and sets us apart from everybody else I agree with that

My vote goes for attachments. I like adding a picture to a post to add a little pizzazz here and there.
I have the signature function disabled, so it wouldn't bother me if they were done away with.

Plus, if pictures were to be eliminated from signatures, they can be posted every time if you wish, not just once per thread. At least I think TJ would remove that rule, since text takes 99.9% less time to load than images. And you still have your avatar. Most places won't even allow you that much.

That was also part of the reason why I voted the way I did. I lke to see some variety around here. Seeing the same old pictures gets old after a while. And I also think it's unfair for some people, like yourself, to have this rule when they have the signature function turned off. Good points Janice. :thumbsup:
