Well, it's only been a day since we reported that Battlestar Galactica was coming, and Universal has already changed the street date! The new date is October 21, a week later than we reported yesterday.

Universal has just given us the preliminary list of supplements for Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Epic Series. This list of extras, and the names they will go by, is not yet finalized and could be subject to change. As it stands right now, they look like this:

Insight into the "Making of" Battlestar Galactica
Creation of Battlestar Galactica: an Interview with creator Glen A. Larson
Deleted Scenes
Commentary for selected episodes by Cast/Crew
Visual Effects with John Dykstra
Sci-Fi Special: Making of the Show
Composing the Music: Stu Phillips and Glen A. Larson
Production Notes
Sneak preview into the new Sci-Fi Channel Battlestar Galactica mini-series
Interactive Game Trailer

Re-iterating the specs: This will be shown in the originally broadcast 4x3 aspect ratio, with both 2.0 stereo soundtrack and 5.1 Dolby soundtrack. French and Spanish subtitles are on board, along with Closed Captioning for the hearing impaired.

As we said earlier today, the release date has been pushed back exactly one week, to October 21st. The S.R.P. will be $119.98 for this 6-Disc set with almost 20 hours of show... EVERY episode of the one and only season of the original Battlestar Galactica!

For those of you interested in owning the alternate, theatrical cut of the pilot episode, "Saga of a Star World" (with a shorter running time, and alternate scenes including a different fate for one major character), you'll be pleased to know that Universal is going to re-promote that old DVD (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/releaseinfo.cfm?ReleaseID=702) on the same date (10/21), at a new lower SRP of $19.98.

I assume that there is no plan to release Galactica 1980 at this point, but you never know. I suppose it depends on the sales of the original series and general demand for it.

I think the original series will sell very well- I mean there are tons of fans all over the internet who have been asking for these dvds for years.

Wow! Universal Home Video stated in their official Battlestar Galactica press release (http://tvshowsondvd.com/graphics/news/BG_press.htm) this formidable statement:

Plus, every fan will want to display their Battlestar Galactica - Complete Epic Series, due to the highly collectible, traffic-stopping packaging.

Well, I would say that they've delivered! Here is the traffic-stopping artwork they promised for Battlestar Galactica - The Complete Epic: (http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=503)

Also, for fans who want to collect the (edited-down) theatrical version of the Galactica pilot episode (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/releaseinfo.cfm?ReleaseID=702) , Universal is re-releasing it on the same day (October 21), and it features some new cover art, plus a new lower SRP of $19.98:

So who here has seen the new Mini-Series. I had the pleasure of viewing a DVD copy a few days ago and it blew me away. I always suspect Ron D Moore (Star Trek TNG/DS9) was talented but his revised concept of Galactica is bloody brilliant adult sci-fi.
