I think June had alot of say in the cleaver household. She was in control in the episode "Beaver Runs Away". It was June who got the car out and searched the neighborhood for Beaver when Ward refused to do so. It was also June who went to the Mondello's to pick Beaver up after he had been located despite Ward saying "I think we should wait until he comes home of his own accord." June was right about how this situation should be handled. Ward had to tell Beaver "I made a mistake". Thank goodness June didn't. What other examples of June in control at the Cleaver household can you think of?

I'm sorry about the duplication of threads. There was a delay in the topic posting on my computer and I thought I had forgotten to post it. Just chalk it up to a senior moment :) . Please forgive.

You know, that is a great question. This is an era where the man controlled everything in the home. I can't think of anything off hand one reason being I haven't seen even close to every episode. I think Ward was a little more easy going. She seems to speak up when she feels the need. There is one episode I do remember now. Wally had brought home a car without his parents permission and it was falling apart in their driveway and June just put her foot down and kept at Ward until he had to have it taken care of himself. There must be more but like I said I haven't seen alot of them. I guess there have been times when she tried to take more control but ultimately Ward had the upper hand which was obviously NOT unheard of back then.
