If NICK is making it their policy not to show any episodes that were shown during the opening marathon during this first cycle of "Wings" shows, then WHY in the world did they include so many important "milestone" episodes in that marathon?

Episodes like Casey's arrival, Lowell's departure, Alex finally accepting Brian as a boyfriend, Joe and Helen's wedding, etc. are key moments in the series, and not showing them upsets the entire flow of the series.

Some may say that those are great episodes and NICK wanted to impress their audience (in other words, get them "hooked" on "Wings") during the marathon. Well, if NICK wanted to do THAT, there are PLENTY of great episodes that aren't "milestones".....the guys going on that out-of-town golfing trip, Helen's boyfriend with the annoying laugh, etc.

In fact, most of those "milestone" episodes would have more of an impact if seen during the course of the series.....Lowell's "farewell" episode would pack a far greater punch for me NOW that I've gotten to know the characters, rather than watching it as an "intro" episode during an opening marathon!

I just don't understand why NICK pulled so many important moments in the series to use in the marathon....especially since they wouldn't be showing them again as part of the regular nightly run!

Very good question. Plus, I realize it may be due to the Summer block programming coming up, but why aren't they continuing with showing the episodes in order all the way to the conclusion of the series. I was looking forward to seeing the final season and especially the final episode of the series because I haven't seem them since the show was originally on NBC.

Instead they are jumping all over the place showing some episodes they skipped etc.......as Krista would so eloquently put it.......poo! or rrrrrrrr!........my kingdom for a DVD collection of the Wings series.

Oh yeah, I finally got around to checking out that "Summer Block Party" list, episode by episode....

What a MESS! While most of them will be 7th and/or 8th season episodes, there are some earlier ones thrown in here and there...

Including at least one where Helen is still dating Davis Lynch, and Lowell (remember HIM?) is still living with the Hackett Brothers!

Oh well, time marches on!

I totally agree. It almost seems like they should have done the opposite. Instead of showing all those milestone episodes during the marathon, they should have shown ones that are great episodes (of which there are many), but wouldn't upset the flow of the show if they were missing. Actually, now that I think about it, both the marathon and the nightly run of the show were missing many milestone episodes (like the one where Joe and Helen first get together, which was not shown during the marathon). So if they were trying to use the milestone episodes to get people hooked then they should have at least made the marathon more coherent. Instead, they actually pulled milestone episodes from both the marathon AND the nightly run. Either way, I really don't understand N@N!

In thinking over NICK'S "summer block" scheduling of "Wings" episodes, I would LIKE to think that the reason for the throwing in of earlier episodes is that NICK realizes that the upcoming 7th and 8th season shows aren't considered to be the series' best output. Instead of giving the "block" viewer one "last breath" episode after another, they decided to spice up the lineup by including an earlier "Golden Age" episode here and there....

That's what I'd LIKE to think, but I'm sure that I'm giving NICK more credit than they deserve in their programming logic!

I agree with you! I've been wonmdering the same thing!
And I completely agree about Lowell's last episode. I saw that during the marathion, and I was just like, "ok, whatever".. but now that I've seen SO many episodes, I've really become fond of Lowell, and that episode would affect me so much more if I saw it now, where it belongs in the series.

and pilotguy- i don't know if maybe I'm mistaken, but when I looked at the schedule yesterday, it looks like this week, it's going to be really random. but then starting with the viewer appreciation summer thing next week, they're showing the rest of the series in order... maybe I'll go look at that schedule again....

That episode should have aired before the Antonio and the Hooker episode. So I guess they skipped it. I agree that it is one of the funniest "Later Years" episode of the series.
