I've never seen this movie and would like to. Sadly, we dont get Lifetime Movie Network here - even with digital cable, etc. It's not available :-( Sounds good, though:

"A Cry For Help: The Tracy Thurman Story
Story about the landmark case that led to the adoption of domestic violence legislation and reforms in police responses to domestic violence calls. STARS: Nancy McKeon, Dale Midkiff, Bruce Weitz, Yvette Heyden"

If you missed it last night and get LMN, It's coming on today at either 12:00 or 1:00 p.m. I watched it last night at 10:30. It's pretty sad, though.

I caught part of 'The Tracey Thurman Story' today on LMN. Nancy's character was not like Jo at all. Jo would not have put up with that creep's b.s.

Nancy should stick to stronger characters and not these weak women roles imo.

Looking forward to 'The Division' because it is an ensemble cast similar to FOL!

Nancy can do as many different roles as she wants, but the point is all she'll ever be known as is "Jo". She cant escape it even after 13 years!

Stanley Roper: I'm sorry Jack

Jack Tripper: Oh, thats ok, what did you do?

Roper: Me? Nothing, I just thought I saw something that wasnt normal, because it was normal, but, now I can see it aint normal, so, everything's back to normal again.

Jack: oh, well, I'm glad for you.

I shouldn't compare Nancy's roles in 'Tracy Thurman', the 'Division', or any of her any roles to Jo...my bad.

I don't think Nancy has to be typecast as 'Jo.' I personally like her better in stronger woman type roles as opposed to the Valerie Bertinelli-ish woman in peril stuff but it would be great to see her in roles unlike level headed Jo. Actually, her character in 'Division' seems as though she will have some problems with the bottle and other struggles that will be quite different from her FOL role.

I saw this movie when it was on TV the first time and don't care to see it again - Nancy or no Nancy. The only good thing I got out of this movie is to never ever stay with a man who treats you the way this creep was treating Tracy Thurman.

Michele, I love hearing people refer to Nancy McKeon's TV movies as "Valerie Bertinelli-ish"... I find it a very interesting parallel, since Valerie played one of my favorite characters on One Day At A Time, which is probably my favorite '70's sitcom. I am saddened that both of these actresses played such wonderful sitcom characters, but can't get better roles than this over-dramatic movie crap with "Love", "Mother", or "Child" message somewhere within. That has typecasted these two actresses far worse than their sitcom roles ever have.

After saying that, "The Division" looks very promising. From what I've read of Nancy's role, it sounds like it will be a challenging part for her to play and will hopefully break her out of the woman-in-peril stuff. When the show is very successful, I'll keep my fingers crossed for a guest spot for Vallerie http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey, coily, 'One Day at a Time' was definitely one of my favorite sitcoms in the 70's, too. Unfortunately, it probably ran a year or two longer than it should have...but I am digressing.

I was probably about 15 when Valerie married Eddie Van Halen. Me and most of my friends were jealous of Valerie. However, she remains one of my all-time favorite actresses. I used to even watch her in that bad 'Hotel Americain' (sp?) sitcom she starred in back in the early 90's.

Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?

Jo: Beats me, Tootie.

Michele, unfortunately the best sitcoms run a little too long (I think that FOL should've packed it in a year or two earlier and left on a high note rather than getting canceled). That Hotel America was an OK show too.... My friends and I all think that Bertinelli is responsible for breaking up Van Halen.
