Ok, first of all let me say, NO this is not a poll or a thread to say which ones better. I just want to say something. I don't really think it's fair that we compare Diane and Rebecca, or even say I like the Diane years better than the Rebecca years. YES this would officially label me as a hipocrite, but hey people can change their minds can't they?
Diane was an awesome character who was unbelievable and unforgettable, so was Rebecca only we make the mistake of thinking that they are on the same level or place (and I don't mean level as one being on a Higher level than the other just a different one). They weren't, YES rebecca happened to come in after Diane left, and YES they probably wouldn't have looked for a Rebecca if Shelley wasn't leaving, but still it's not the same thing. Because if we are comparing on the basis of that than we HAVE to compare Sam and Diane vs Lilith and Fraiser. It has been said on several interviews with the creators that because Shelley was leaving that they focused more on Lilith and Fraiser relationship so they would have a relationship when Sam and Diane could no longer be focused on. I love the Lilith and Fraiser relationship, but it was a completely different relationship. I mean it wasn't proving that opposites attract, in fact lilith and Fraiser were very alike at least proffesionally. Rebecca was a character added not meant to replace Diane, ofcourse to fill the void that Diane left, but not meant to replace her. It was a whole different game where Sam had a friend, and the voice of reason became fraiser.
So when we Say Diane or Rebecca well it applies to every one, like it's the same thing as saying Diane or Carla, Diane or Lilith....Does anybody get what Im trying to say?
