That's nice! I know a lot of places around there are named after famous people, but it's good to know that Desi's got one too! :)

I just read a portion of Desi's Autobio online and Arnaz Dr. was named for his family. Duh, you knew that. But, his family inherited land around Ventura Blvrd. And they sold it or something like that.

Desi obviously inherited from his family his talents for selling valuable things he should keep, then!

A little off topic, but, it relates to selling valueable land.

I just read George Burns' book "Gracie A Love Story" and he and Gracie had a chance to buy a beautiful mansion w/ 7 acres of land in Beverly Hills for $80,000. That was back in the 1930's.
Gracie thought it would be a good investment but 'ol George wasn't gonna Let them pull a fast one on him. So, they didn't buy it. He jokingly stated they ruined it by putting large buildings on the beautiful land! Now, you can't even get a decent size house for that!

So, my point is Desi had no idea back then that there would be vcrs dvds and the whole marketing medium there is today. I f he could have seen into the future I'm sure he would have kept his part of things.

Almost undoubtedly. He proved often enough that he was no fool. To have achieved what he did was impressive enough for anybody at the time, but given the prejudice he faced it's doubly impressive. With the benefits hindsight gives us, though, his decision to sell certain things seems insane!

$80,000.00 for a house with acres in the 1930's.
Gosh that seems a fortune even back them. The country was in the depression. My mom bought a home in the 1940's for $5,000/ and that was a lot of money for her. But now houses here go for 1-2 million.
