View Full Version : This is cool!! dawsongirl 06-29-2003, 04:25 AM Okay, so I'm looking for houses for sale in Beverly Hills (for a lark) and seriously...there's a street called Arnaz Dr. S! Mickey 06-29-2003, 05:01 AM That's nice! I know a lot of places around there are named after famous people, but it's good to know that Desi's got one too! :) *ShortCake* 06-30-2003, 09:21 AM cool deal! Lucyfreak86 07-05-2003, 03:08 PM Thats cool!:) ricardo/mertz 07-07-2003, 01:08 AM I just read a portion of Desi's Autobio online and Arnaz Dr. was named for his family. Duh, you knew that. But, his family inherited land around Ventura Blvrd. And they sold it or something like that. Mickey 07-07-2003, 04:12 AM Desi obviously inherited from his family his talents for selling valuable things he should keep, then! :) ricardo/mertz 07-07-2003, 10:57 AM Ouch! You are right though. dawsongirl 07-07-2003, 04:12 PM Originally posted by Mickey Desi obviously inherited from his family his talents for selling valuable things he should keep, then! :) Mickey 07-07-2003, 05:10 PM Poor Desi... I'm not making fun of you really, Des, honest. :) BabalooBabe 07-12-2003, 06:14 PM Originally posted by Mickey Desi obviously inherited from his family his talents for selling valuable things he should keep, then! :) OOWW !!! I think Desi is wincing on that one. ricardo/mertz 07-13-2003, 12:12 PM A little off topic, but, it relates to selling valueable land. I just read George Burns' book "Gracie A Love Story" and he and Gracie had a chance to buy a beautiful mansion w/ 7 acres of land in Beverly Hills for $80,000. That was back in the 1930's. Gracie thought it would be a good investment but 'ol George wasn't gonna Let them pull a fast one on him. So, they didn't buy it. He jokingly stated they ruined it by putting large buildings on the beautiful land! Now, you can't even get a decent size house for that! So, my point is Desi had no idea back then that there would be vcrs dvds and the whole marketing medium there is today. I f he could have seen into the future I'm sure he would have kept his part of things. Mickey 07-13-2003, 06:38 PM Almost undoubtedly. He proved often enough that he was no fool. To have achieved what he did was impressive enough for anybody at the time, but given the prejudice he faced it's doubly impressive. With the benefits hindsight gives us, though, his decision to sell certain things seems insane! vze3t9q9 07-14-2003, 08:55 PM $80,000.00 for a house with acres in the 1930's. Gosh that seems a fortune even back them. The country was in the depression. My mom bought a home in the 1940's for $5,000/ and that was a lot of money for her. But now houses here go for 1-2 million. Barnabas1 07-16-2003, 03:32 PM DG, think you can get a house next to Richard's? LOL! dawsongirl 07-17-2003, 01:24 AM Originally posted by Ralph Malph Ricardo DG, think you can get a house next to Richard's? LOL! I keep trying! But I'm a tad short on funds. ArnezChik1 07-21-2003, 11:10 PM I'm not surprised. Desi is a great actor. That is so kool!!lol:) |
