I don't know whether this thread will be popular or vanish in the first hour, but here goes. I only get three weeks of vacation a year and take most of it at Christmas, so I don't really get a summer vacation. At least maybe I can feel like I'm going on one through your account of your vacation. Tell us about a vacation trip you've taken this summer. Post pics if you want to. You can tell us about the travel / tourism aspects, or tell us about your personal experiences, people you met, how you felt, etc. Either way would be very interesting. It can be just a few sentences or a detailed account.

this sucks!

in a few weeks i hafta drive 3 hours to phoenix, fly to portland, fly back, drive back, drive 12 hours to the beach, drive back, ride a train 5 or 6 hours to the boring ass grand canyon, then ride back. i cant handle this!!!!!! not much of a vacation with all the traveling, im gonna be exhausted by the time its over.

Ok, I'll take you on my summer vacation.

First we'll go to Wal-Mart, and you can watch me work all day. Then, We'll come home. Get online for awhile. You can watch me take a shower and then we'll go to bed. Then we'll get up the next day and do the same thing over again.

Yeah, that's the idea of this thread, because what you've described is basically my summer too. So I want to hear from people who actually went somewhere and had some experiences - good, bad, or indifferent.

i counted up how log i'll be traveling... 45 hours. in that case i'll hafta bring 45 CDs or 22 dvds to entertain myself. I DONT WANNA GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In 48 hours I have to get up about 3 hours before the ass crack of dawn to drive 800 miles to Georgia where I have to work for a week. Then I will drive an additional 5 hours to Orlando Florida to go to Disney World. When that's done I get to drive 1,100 miles BACK home to go to work the very next day. :eek:

Between now and then I have to pack, do laundry, pack, do laundry, clean, do laundry, pack, finish tapes, pack, clean, do laundry, get my rental car, pack, do laundry, clean AND go to work for another full day. I have no where near the amount of time to get ready that I need. None at all.


But damn...

I have no vacation this year because my dad doesn't get one. So I'll follow my same old routine: get up, watch TV, play on the computer, listen to music, eat, sleep.

Cool! I think I'm going later than you are, though... I'm not sure exactly when...all I know is that we're leaving on a Tuesday. *shrug*

We hardly ever go on vacations...:( But here is how my summer is going .... Get up at 11:00AM watch tv, eat dinner, feed my dog,watch tv,eat supper, get online at 9:00 PM, and go to bed at 2:00AM! Then do it all over again! I AM SO BORED... :eek:

This thread isn't working out quite the way I planned. Everyone is almost as pathetic as I am. Hasn't anyone taken a nice little trip and maybe some photos? Grand Canyon? Anything?

I can bring you along and take some good pics of my work place, and my tutor...real party...

Monday, I'm flying to Washington, then going to Philly, then to NYC, then me and my parents and my aunt and cousin who live in Washington, are going to drive to Georgia where my grandparents lives...

well i just got back from my vacation so ill tell you about it. we left last monday and drove 200 miles to the condo we were gonna stay in (which is 300 miles from Memphis, we had to stay there because of my stepdad timeshare. I wanted to stay in the Heart Break Hotel.) then on Tuesday we drove to fMemphis and found a cheap hotel there to stay at for one night. and on Wednesday we went to Graceland. our reservations were at 10:00 and i was so freakin anxious. we finally got across the street and the house was amazing. (i dont get the other people though, they just rush through, our group totaly left us, i went through slow, i wanted to see everything and see it good.) at the meditation garden i had to strain myself not to cry. we had the platinum tour so we got to see the automobile museum, the Sincerely Elvis museum, the movie and the airplanes. it was all great.
after all the Graceland stuff we went to Sun Studios and i did took the tour there. (and had my picture taken with the famous microphone.) then we went to the National Civil Rights Museum(it was closed so i just took pictures of the balcony and the "Lorraine Motel" sign) and then we ate at Elvis Presley's Memphis. after all that we went back to Graceland(it was closed) and my stepdad took a picture of me in front of the gates and i wrote my name on the wall in a ton of different places (i bought a new marker and now its all gone.) oh and i spent all my money, 150$ (thats what i svaed it for.)
then we drove back to our condo and stayed there till today.
i think thats pretty much it.

I have some from my vacation LAST YEAR does that count?

i forgot to add, i got 5 rolls of film to get developed.

I am going to the biltmore house to horse show for two weeks next week! :D :D :D :D :D i am really excited!!! I cant wait. I am dreading the car ride up there with my sister though. She gets to bring her pony too :p. She's such a brat.. you guys should see my arms!! All scars from her.. somedays I wish i could just reach back and knock her out! LOL.

My grandparents have a house in highlands though. My other set of grandparents have a house in hendersonville. So I know North Carolina pretty well! :D. I cant wait!! it has been kinda chilly here cause its been raining non stop. i hope you fun in asheville, my favorite part of it is Lake Lure, its so beautiful. (i live about 2 and a half hours away from there)

I don't go on many vacations, the biggest vacation was a few years ago i went to Tallahassee with my dad. We visited my sick uncle (which was nice, because I never met him before then), and we went to "Wild Adventures", a themepark in Valdosta GA. It was pretty fun, I also got to visit Florida State University (my favorite college sports team next to Michigan).

But, I have a few vacations planned for after I graduate... such as: Gettysburg, Washington D.C., Disneyworld, and many football games.

I only get two weeks of summer vacation this summer (Ick) but I'm going to be going to Denmark on August 4th. All I have to do is live through this semester....

Then I'll be happy to tell you all about it :)
