Kudos to Sabrina Leabeauf for playing Sondra, a character that acted like she had a brain. She was playing the oldest child, a character that is usually the stupid child in some modern shows, ala Boy Meets World and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Sondra had a brain and was smart. She had a brain and wasn't afraid to use it.

Why is it that the oldest is always the dumbest?

She also annoyed me. lol :p

I'm sorry, I see what your point is, and that's true---but something about her just grated on my nerves.

I think the biggest example I can think of is at Cliff's birthday dinner at home (pizza before Lena Horne), and she spouts off some facts about men Cliff's age, but it's really depressing. Even though she was right, it was actually stupid to point it out to her father at his birthday dinner! lol

i have no idea either, it's i guess the TV factor where they say even though your older it doesn't mean your smarter. For TV execs, it means your dumber. It's the same thing with the youngest child always being too smart for their age.I dunno.

I think that they do that becuase usually the older sibling is not shown that much in the series, and the younger sibling is, so I think that they do that to make it seem like the younger kid is better then the dumbfounded older brother/sister
