View Full Version : Reasons I'm glad we're starting over...
TVaddict 12-27-2000, 06:32 PM 1. The girls actually have a legitimate reason to all be living together.
2. They will no longer eat cereal in every episode. (did you notice this? They get a new, strange kitchen that you now can only enter in from behind the stairs, and they eat cereal ALL THE TIME! They had nothing better to do)
3. Blair and Jo's bantering will once again be truly mean-spirited, as opposed to later episodes where it was more or less keeping up tradition.
4. Mrs. Garrett!!!!!
5. We don't have to cringe at their horrible 80's wardrobes because they will pretty much only be wearing Eastland uniforms.
6. Tootie will have braces again, just as we learned to love her.
7. Natalie will still smirk every time she says a funny line because she still wasn't quite used to the whole acting thing.
8. The audience will clap once again at the end of the show and before commercial breaks, making us feel as though we are at a play.
9. Jo's hair will be in a pony tail, and when she's not wearing her Eastland uniform she will either wear the green jacket with the army shirt, or the green shirt with the army jacket.
10. NO PIPPA!
11. We get to watch them go through their "awkward phases" all over again.
12. In the first few seasons we never had to complain about the writers running out of ideas.
13. Tootie will once again regularly use the phrase: "There's gonna be troubleeeeee"
14. Blair's gonna be a bitch again.
15. Roller skates!
16. We will KNOW Jo has a motorcycle, we don't have to wonder where it came from since she sold it last episode.
17. We can relive the many ways to put Mrs. Garretts hair in a bun.
18. Gives us the opportunity to forget the hurrendous series finale.
19. It'll be just like going back in time. To a time where if Natalie moved away, they'd probably actually care.
20. We get to see every episode all over again!
ZeldaGilroy 12-27-2000, 06:39 PM Wow! You are so right. It will be fun to go back again. Although, I must admit, I did like the cereal scenes. I have those exact same dishes and I never noticed until they started eating cereal all the time. Anyway, that's my only reaseon for liking the ceral scenes. Kind of stupid, but it's the truth.
Thanks TVaddict for reminding me why I absolutely fell in LOVE with the show! I can't wait to relive it all again! I missed a two of the best seasons and am looking forward to seeing them, along with all the others I haven't seen! Love your list http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hopper: You know I am really a shy kind of guy,but I have been watching you from across the cabin, and I said to myself,"Hopper don't let this one slip away!"
Jo: You know I have been watching you too.You have a lot to be shy about!
*************************
Beverly Ann: Let's see. It's tomorrow in Africa so if I want to talk to Edna today then I should have called her yesterday...
*************************
Natalie: It's a busy day for me. I have to go down to the newspaper office, get a lung transplant...
*************************
Blair: But if I'm not perfect... and that's a *BIG* if, then it wasn't his place to say so.
Jo: You're right. It's my place to say so.
*************************
Michele35 12-27-2000, 07:23 PM 21. We can also go back to a time where it was actually a big deal if Jo got married.
22. We can go back to a time where they don't play that horrible 80's sitcom music at the beginning and end of each episode.
23. No Stacey Q or Sexy Lingerie(thank God!)
Great list, TV!! Hope you don't mind if I added to it. I was actually kinda bummed that N@N would be going back to Season 1 but you brought up alot of good points.
Cokies 12-27-2000, 07:45 PM Alright Tvaddict! I so agree with you on your list. Especially #14, #10, #9, #12!#5, and most important #3! Yay! I'm so happy we're startin' all over again.

"It was just like Saturday Night Fever, except it was a Friday."
JohnMcMillin 12-27-2000, 08:42 PM 24. Guest-star appearances from the Diff'rent Strokes cast (Todd and Dana were already having probs when FOL ended)
25. Tootie doesn't have those dreadful extensions
26. they show young Helen Hunt (okay, they don't show THAT episode, lol), Jami Gertz among others
27. Blair's different hairstyles all over again
28. Getting to see a time when Jermaine Jackson was a big enough star to have bodyguards
29. Knowing that Andy was only about 6 years old when these first episodes were airing, and Pippa about the same
30. Seeing Blair dating a cute guy (Cliff)
The Obsolete Man 12-27-2000, 08:45 PM And the best reason about restarting the series...
Blair will be at her sexiest again! Sorry, but you just can't beat season 2 and 3 Blair. Everything was perfect... best hairdo of all the seasons... and the schoolgirl outfit... ATD! (If you get that one, you've watched too much Facts)
Of course, we still get shafted on the controversial episodes, but what can we do?

Jo-Po Rox 12-27-2000, 08:52 PM Well personally, Im glad bcuz I finally get to watch the eps that I missed cuz I started watching FOL in October. Mainly I cant wait to see the New Girl 1&2 eps.
TVaddict 12-27-2000, 10:05 PM Ok, so what if I know that Blair's "ATD" means absolutely to die. Doesn't necessarily mean I watch too much FOL. Can you ever watch it too much? Go ahead and add more to the list guys. It's fun!

The Obsolete Man 12-28-2000, 12:43 AM I know what you mean... right after N@N started airing the episodes (and I had caught the marathon), I was watching FOL every day. I've got it down to Dick Van Dyke levels... I can name an FoL episode within two minutes of seeing it.
I also like Nat's grandma. Last time I saw that episode, I marked out for Grandma. Grandma rocks the body that rocks the party.
Michele35 12-28-2000, 12:58 AM Too funny and I absolutely agree about those shorts. Now if any episodes should be banned it should be the ones we saw tonight!
Blair's 'Harvest Queen' dress was also too low cut and revealing for my taste lol! Somehow I can't see the 'born again' Lisa Whelchel ever wearing that stuff.
BTW, whoever posted about Jermaine Jackson and the bodyguards totally cracked me up.
FOL85NatandMrsGRock 12-28-2000, 04:46 AM TVAddict... is it ok if i put your list on my website... of course crediting you!! I feel this is TOOO funny and must be shared... I hope you let me put it on my website!! Oh by the way I have added a few more things... changed my email address, added some quotes and so forth... not that MUCH but i will be getting to it VERY shortly... see right now it is 2:34 AM here and so in the morning while my mom is gone i will be working on it... so you might want to check for more changes then!

TVaddict 12-28-2000, 12:20 PM Go ahead and put it on your website FOL85, I don't mind.
Yeah, I noticed Blair's shorts the night that was on make your own sunday. WHOA! I'm glad they changed that after season one. I'm also glad they changed Blair's mom, I like her new one much better. Also I liked how they referred to Cindy as "strange" or "not normal." Just say it Blair! You think she's a lesbian! Man was Blair a bitch back then. It's so great!
iluvfacts14 12-28-2000, 12:30 PM Oh I know T. We've only seen two eps, and already Blair's been slapped once! It's so funny to hear Cindy threaten Blair, because you know in ten eps Jo's gonna be the one threatening Blair, and alot better if I do say so. But, I really missed Tootie being on her rollar skates, and Natalie was so cute when she was little, "...I thought we were all virgin!" Hehehehe, starting over does have alot going for it! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

You see what I'm talking about? If NAN can air this episode, they can air dope, breaking point, first time around and others that are being skipped. As far as the short shorts, I think that was the style back in the 70's and early 80's era. I saw a 1980 episode of Knots Landing with Donna Mills first arriving on the show with a short pair of shorts. I think everybody wore them that way.
ThomasE 12-30-2000, 12:01 AM I'm glad we are starting over because we get to see the first season the show. It was good and watchable.
